Energy leech and blood rage

for the energy shield leech support gem, does it count as leeching if blood rage degen is more than the leech amount, and ES is always at 0? Or does it cancel the leech if the degen is more than leech?

If you have 0 Maximum Energy Shield (for example, by allocating The Agnostic), then you cannot leech energy shield, since when you try to do it it would immediately stop since it reaches the full ES (which is 0)

No, you cannot even leech ES with items with the "Energy Shield leech effects are not removed on Full Energy Shield", since having 0 ES is not considered as having "Full energy shield". This is a hidden rule explained by Mark_GGG when talking about leeching mana with a 0 Mana character because of Blood Magic Keystone.

If you have at least 1 Maximum Energy Shield, however, you will leech Energy Shield as expected. Blood Rage will still give you a degen, so both your ES Regen and your Energy Shield Leech will work together against Blood Rage's Degen. The net result will be either a slower degen or a slower regen.

Of course, once you reach full ES, Energy Shield leech will stop working, just like a Life Flask does when reaching full life. You can prevent this to happen and keep "leeching" while at full Energy Shield by using items with "Energy Shield leech effects are not removed on Full Energy Shield". Remember that this works only if you maximum Energy Shield is not 0.

Also, remember that "Life Leech effects are not removed on full life" from Slayer does not apply to Energy Shield leech effects instead.

To clarify, i was talking about actually having energy shield (ES-Max > 0) but the result of the degen from blood rage having it at 0 all the time.
