Vulkan Renderer just gives a black screen with some flickering [resolved]

I wanted to try out the Vulkan renderer but its not working. I havent played in the last year or so, so it is new to me. anything special that one needs to do?

I am using a GTX970M with the newest Nvidia drivers 456.38. From what I can tell that should be good to go for Vulkan.

I can select Vulkan just fine, however everything then looks like this:




I tried all the ingame graphic settings, they make no difference.

anybody has any ideas? or has somebody seen that before?

UPDATE: Just in case someone has a similar issue and finds this. the problem was resolved after updating windows 10 to the latest big update (2004). Of course, I am not sure though if it was the update itself that was needed or if some hidden setting got changed/reset in the process.
