Do gems stack?

I just started playing the game a few day sgo and I have a question about skill gems

I have a spark gem and I found another spark gem. Is there any reason to socket both of them, will they stack properties or is the other one really only good for trading right now. If they do stack does it have to be in a linked sockets or can they go anywhere?
.....And that's all I have to say about that.

Only support gem(s) linked to a compatible active skill gems via linked sockets will modify that active skill. Spark is an active skill so you cannot link two of them together to get a modified effect.

For extra clarification: Only the highest of each added support effect is used, so they don't stack.

I.E If you link +3 and +5 added fire damage, only the +5 will actually apply (and that's if the skill does damage).
But it might be a good idea to implement. Linking the same gems together could make the skill in overall a little bit stronger (e.g.: 10% of the weakest gem props will be given to the stronger one)

Although for the record, if you have two raise zombie gems (Currently they need to be different levels, so just make sure you keep one a level lower than the other) you can raise a set of zombies from each gem.
Can you socket identical support gems in separate weapons / armor if they're linked to different effects ?

Basically like: Faster Projectiles linked to Fire Arrow - main hand weapon
Faster Projectiles linked to Cold Arrow - off hand weapon

Does the use of one support gem override the effects of another identical gem ?

That'll work just fine. I do wonder how you're going to use two weapons and Bow skills though :P
Whoops..... I was thinking duel wield for some reason. But yes, I would be using a bow, and have the 2nd gem linked on another item.

Thanks for the info !
The reason to use two different gems of the same active skill, is if you want two differently supported versions. If you socket two Spark gems, you have two different spark skills. You could, for example, support one with increased duration, forking, and totem to get a totem you place in a small room to quickly fill it and keep it full of sparks, and support another with multiple projecitles to better shotgun close-range enemies yourself.
