Cleave 'alternate' quality - is that IT?

so.. new league is coming, hundreds of new items, gems, mechanics ('more is more'.. not. 95% of these are going to be duds, 5% obscenely strong. game could would seriously benefit from cutting this content addition bloat)

besides adding new spells (as always) alternate quality picked my attention.

Cleave:
- 1 LGOH per 1% quality (20 LGOH at regular 20% max)

Archmage:
- split added damage into cold/lightning, ratio determined by quality


Sad to see that one of if not THE worst skill in the game does not get any buff and the quality gimmick is.. useless (yes, i know that Cleave hits twice with Dual Wielding. still useless)

Archmage gets a nice utility of cold shatters (how good is it: check the cluster notable 'Snowstorm' pairing nicely with plethora of setups for extra defense (chill is always good)


Before the usual party of 'melee is GREAT!' comes in, I would like to ask a simple question:

- have you EVER considered using Cleave?
- if not: is that quality going to change your mind? (regular quality gives 10% attack speed..)


Btw Cleave is in theory heavily favouring Dual Wield. how come no one uses it that way? are people unaware (all 4 of them) that without DW you are using a ~130% effective skill (safe to say THE weakest melee skill in the game)

I think GGGT are just dumping lots of mediocre stuff into the game to keep people interested until PoE2 is released. It works. Harvest has shown it does. Most people disliked the garden but the prospect of having god-like items kept them hooked. Game improvements? No need.

I mean, look at the weapon and body armour enchants or the alternate skill gem quality. It will lure people in. Does it make the game better? No. It's also incredibly uncreative. (it also further waters down corrupting items)
None of the past leagues has improved anything.
