Noob stuck at Act 6 (need build help)

Hi, I'm pretty new to poe, and basically I'm stuck at the beginning of Act 6. I'm getting killed extremely quickly, and dealing sub-optimal damage. I've tried getting my resists above 75, but with the -30 debuff, i can't reach much above 40/40/70.

Does anyone have any advice based on my build?

Thanks in advance.

You should check out the crafting bench. You'll be able to add resistance mods to your gear.

A bit more life will also help, and you can start adding auras and defensive skills.

You should also work on maxing the support for one primary damage skill. Ideally at this stage you'd like to get yourself a 4l and have one primary damage with 3 supports. Currently you have two primary damage sharing one support, which is reducing your damage output.

Your passives are also a bit split, leaning more toward supporting Ice Nova, while your gear is better for an attack build like Cyclone.

With capped resists, a little more life, and more focused damage scaling, you will find things a lot easier.

Yeah basically having 40% resists means you take DOUBLE the damage you normally would take with 70% resists. Hence sometimes it is better to work on your resists than trying to double your life. Both are important but doubling your life would be much harder to do. And btw, you can ignore chaos resist for now. If you have some, then great. If not, focus on the elemental resistances and getting more damage. We know that a dead character deals no damage but prolonged fights also means we would be exposed longer to threats and run out of flask charges. You can tell when monsters deal chaos damage but they are rare. That one area in the sewers in the beginning of Act 8 where monsters spread chaos farts on death but it is just a brief section of the leveling process. Tarantula boss of Act 7 as well but quite easy to dodge her skills.

Thanks for the replies, I've now capped all my resists (except chaos) and got a new 4-link with Ice Nova and 3 supports. I'm now dying significantly less often, and my dps has gone from 1.4k to 2.2k.
Try to stack about 300hp per act.

So you should be sitting roughly at 1800 hp in act6.

I'm in the same boat. I'm still trying to figure out the gear in this game and how it works. The gear drops don't progress as you level it seems I keep several rings, amulets and belts that can be swapped out for different bosses for resists. Instead of trying to get every resist I focused on what kind of damage they dealt and changed accordingly.

I did have some success, still died alot to the bosses but it did make it easier for me to get to chapter seven.

gearing during leveling is very straightforward

basic rule: good leveling gear = gear with life and elemental resists

besides that, you should have:

* movement speed on boots - faster travel, better kiting
* 4-link for main skill
* up-to-date life flasks, quicksilver flask
* good physical damage on a weapon if using attacks
* properly leveled skill gem if using spells

Thanks, I think I need to simplify and refocus my gear. I did alot of tweaking during act six and learned alot. It just seems daunting to find gear with resists and health that jive with my build. Here is a link to my post. If you have any thoughts.

Hi there,

I can't agree more with what others post.

One more thing, flasks - flasks - flasks.
Learn how to craft them and utilising them.

Believe me, flasks is one of the most important aspects of the game.
