100% physical conversion + herald of ash mechanics
Hi everyone
My question upfront is, does herald of ash add extra fire damage if 100% of my physical damage is converted to fire damage? With burning arrow 100% of phys is converted to fire, and with the herald of ash description "Gain 15% of your Physical Damage as Extra Fire Damage Base duration is 4 seconds" I interpret it to be there would be no extra fire damage. I interpret it this way because I deal no physical damag -- I deal only fire damage. However, the wiki description includes "Extra Fire Damage: This modifier adds fire damage to all hits, including those from attacks, spells, and secondary damage sources. The amount added is equal to 15% of the damage source's physical damage," which makes it sound like its not based on damage dealt but weapon source (and presumably modifiers such as passive mods). So in this definition it is adding extra fire damage. I think it is the wording on the gem that is confusing me. Can someone please advise whether or not herald of ash works with 100% conversion, and please provide reasoning so that I may avoid this confusion in the future? Thank you! For purpose of calculations like this your original physical damage still exist, so youl get 15% of it as extra fire damage.
So in essence herald of ash + burning arrow means you get 115% of phys damage as fire instead of just the 100% of burning arrow. "An it harm none, do what you will"
