Belt enchantment "XXX by you" and Totem/Trap/Mines interaction question
Do the following new belt enchantments work with the status apply by totem/trap/mines if you apply the status to the enemy via totem/trap/mines:
" It's quite confusing because according to this thread, "Enemies you Taunt take 20% increased Damage" works with totem. Master of Fear notable (Enemies you Curse are Unnerved) from curse cluster also apply unnerve even if the curse was from a curse-enemies-with-level-xxx-xxx-on-hit ring with totem/trap/mines. But "Enemies you Kill Explode..." mod from chest doesn't work with totem/trap/mine. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Hence the question: If I had a Hunter glove with Intimidate/Unnerve enemy on hit, and my totem/trap/mines apply the debuff to enemies via hit, do we gain the benefits of the belt enchant "enemies intimidated/unnerved by you"? My understanding is that since the totems use your skills, they benefit from this, but in the end it is hard to say for certain and most of these are extremely difficult to test.

"Why does "enemies you XXX [negative_effect] applies for mine/trap/totem", that would be because those three things works as a proxy for your attacks and spells. This is also why your totem, trap and mine increased damage can even work
In other words, your Punture trap's hit will be considered as being a hit of yours for the sake of the "enemies you XXX". What that trap will eventually get are all on-hit effects (like reflected damage taken, life gain, leech, corrupting blood stack from Nemesis mobs...) and kill from their hits (if not done by a DoT. Kill by DoT are always awarded to you, even if you cannot inflict damage or could not inflict that DoT to begin with). But that puncturing arrow will be considered as "your hit (but the trap gets the blame/merit)". This gets a bit more intuitive with Ancestral Totem, since they wield a physical copy of your weapon, giving more the impression they are "borrowing" your statistics and equipment (mind that minion, trap, totem and mine never actually get a copy of your gear unless specifically stated, like with Mirror Arrow) However, in this case we see a different wording: "Enemies taunted by you". Which is different from "enemies you taunt". I believe the "by you" is similiar to the wording of other boni like "1% damage dealt by your totems is leeched to you as life" from Chieftain Ascendancy or "Enemies taunted by you take 10% increased damage" from Champion Ascendancy. So no, I do not believe that would work from intimidate/unnerve from any other source that is not you or your equipment (like Belt of the Deceiver) Perhaps this last part, Champion Ascendancy, may yield some more result? The wording exists for far longer than the Belt enchantments, perhaps someone gave it a try |

My understanding of the general interaction of modifiers with traps/mines/totems is that they work if and only if they directly affect the enemy you're hitting. For example, my Ascendant trapper has "cover enemies with Ash on hit" from Chieftain and "create Consecrated Ground on hit" from Inquisitor. My traps can apply Ash just fine. On an Elemental Equilibrium map, my traps apply EE. The Consecrated Ground modifier, on the other hand, creates a ground effect at the enemy's location, rather than directly to the enemy, so my traps can't apply it. Since the belt enchants you listed apply effects to enemies, they should work with traps/mines/totems. Intimidate/Unnerve on hit effects should also work.

Totems get your on hit effects.
Totems do not get your on kill effects. |
