Anybody using Foreboding mana flask?
Is anybody using Foreboding mana flask?
I cannot figure out what could it be good for. Should I pick up such flask loot or not? I press the button (drink from flask), and nothing happens for 6 seconds? And, after 6 seconds, my mana pool increases not by 1800 (as the flask description says) but by 50 (if my unreserved mana maximum is 50)? It works only if I have about double sized mana pool, and do not reserve mana? Last bumped on Aug 16, 2020, 8:01:39 AM

I guess it would work if you specifically know that you will use up a lot of mana. E.g. you could use the flask and then time your Arcane Cloak to make sure that you still have mana after using it on an Ivory Tower or MoM build, or alternatively do it exactly the other way around to guarantee that you have full mana when Arcane Cloak comes off cooldown despite generally not being at full mana due to stuff like Archmage or The Agnostic.
Foreboding mana flasks have a higher theoretical average mana recovery than Enduring ones and they still queue; they are just less convenient because they stop at full mana. If your maximum unreserved mana pool is 50, you should not bother with a mana flask at all but manage your mana with leech or on hit effects etc. (for high level characters, anyway). |

Foreboding
Mana Recovery occurs instantly at the end of the Flask effect 66% increased Amount Recovered Enduring Flask Effect is not removed at Full Mana Flask Effect does not Queue 30% reduced Duration 30% reduced Amount Recovered From what I can read about these new (?) Foreboding and Enduring, they seem to be some very interesting choices made for a better interaction with certain uniques/notables. They sure tried to promote Mana Flasks usage these years... Foreboding reminds me of legacy Blood of the Karui. Once, Blood of the Karui didn't recover life during its effect, and rather recovered full life at flask effect end. There was no point increasing its quality, and all that mattered was to have the bonus on recovery speed as high as possible in order to limit the "timeout" to flasking it gave. While Blood of the Karui was active, you could not recover life from Life Flasks. This meant you can pop as many Life Flasks you wanted, but no life recovery would apply, not even instant. Other on-sip effects (like ailment removals) would apply as expected. In time, Blood became a far too clunky flask, and it was reworked so to lose the "no life recovery during flask effect". Now you have a exceptionally strong Sanctified Life Flask that recovered a lot of life, faster, and in the very end still put you up at full HP (unreserved full HP, that is), making it the most powerful non-instant life flask around Foreboding seems to act like that, without however dampening your ability to recover Mana by using other mana/hybrid flasks. You just have, at the end of the 6 seconds, an exceptional, "instantaneous" boost of Mana. As DER_PSYCHOPATH suggested, timing is the key here - you want to use Foreboding when you have a very big pool of Unreserved Mana (MoM, Ivory Tower, Legacy Mind of the Council, Clear Mind...) and you are foreseeing to get a very big hit - either by spending a lot of mana via Arcane Cloak/Archmage or by taking an exceptionally big hit that would deplete almost all of it. Or, well, casting an Aura Totem. They do exists, after all, and they will cost you a percentage of your mana rather than a fixed amount. ...Or a fixed amount if they are Clarity/Precision totems. Enduring is clearly meant to be used with items/abilities granted "during flask effect" - and also to ensure a constant mana regeneration if you mana regen is somewhat too low for the threat you are facing. Should work exceptional with Soul Tether in order to give you an immediate and long-lasting Soul Eater without resorting to utility flasks (though you might still want to use an Experimenter Stibnite for its 7-8 seconds of effect) |

The most interesting interaction happens with hybrid flasks. They can also roll these affixes since they're half mana flask.
This won't cancel the life flask part even if you're on full health. You can then anoint "Hardened Scars" to get fortify during the effect of life flasks. https://poedb.tw/us/Hardened_Scars Numbing Elixir is also quite nice and could make you immune to curses and non-damaging ailments(freeze, shock). https://poedb.tw/us/Numbing_Elixir |
