Archmage support and +1 to Level of all Lightning Spell Skill Gems

so here's the deal.

+1 to Level of all Lightning Spell Skill Gems
or any other +# to level of all Lightning Spell Skill Gems works fine with any other lightning spell skill gems however the "Archemage Support' skill gem does not benefit from it.

I know it is a support gem however it is still considered as 'lightning, support, spell' gem if you look at the description. So doesn't that mean it should also benefit from the +# to level of all lightning Spell skill Gems?

"Lightning Spell Skill gem"

As you may have noticed from the Facetor's Lens challenge, Active Skill Gems are NOT Support Gems.
In other words, you may read that "+1 to Level of all Lightning Spell Skill Gems" as a more old-fashioned "+1 to Level of all Active Lightning Spell Gems"

So you are suggesting every "+1 level to all lightning/fire/ice spell skill gems" would only apply to active skill gems?

As long as it specifically say "skill", then yes. The same way Atziri's Disfavour's "+2 to Level of Socketed Support Gems" will only apply to Support gems, and not Active Skill gems

Generic descriptions, like Limbsplit's "+1 to Level of Socketed Strength Gems", or Ornament of the East's "+1 to Level of Socketed Dexterity Gems" will instead apply to every (socketed) Active Skill gem and Support Gem as long as it a Gem of that colour - Red for the Strenght, Green for the Dexterity.

Hybrid gems will count as gems for their color, which usually is the highest attribute requirement. For example, Lightning Strike, a Green Skill gem which requires both DEX and STR, will be supported by Ornament of the East but not Limbsplit since it's green. Multistrike Support, a Red Support Gem which requires both DEX and STR, will be supported by Limbsplit but not Ornamento of the east since it's Red

Another example is Silverbranch's "+1 to Level of Socketed Bow Gems" which will apply also to Support gems as long they have a Bow tag (ex. Ballista Totem Support).

He is not "suggesting anything. He is telling you how it work.
A support gem is NOT a skill gem.
