It's all about the perception of PoE being a massively popular arpg. When we look at Steam Charts rankings to get a feel for game popularity and see PoE up in the top 10 that gets some gamers to come here and check it out. If GGG clamped down and banned the bots then the daily player counts would plummet and we'd see PoE for what it really is in terms of real player popularity. So keeping the total player numbers artificially inflated with a significant amount of bot accounts is very important to keep up the facade that PoE is very popular and GGG still has a hit game.

First off,
just a question, why are you even still playing poe, I have my reasons why I like to play poe, but I dont know whats your perspective, afterall if you would have one you shouldnt be that bothered by bots, I mean the only reason you might have realised their existence is that the playerbase within this league is smaller than in other leagues, but they were always dormant within the leagues, and will probably always be within the future. So why do you even bother opening a thread, if the only time you get confronted with them is when you try to buy currency or they try to buy some rarity gear from you. I mean sure they rule the marketplace, and you have to adjust your item prices to their ones. But in the end there are still many reasons why I still like to play poe. And you should have too, if it isnt the case, just quit the game, you might be just burned out. |
