MoM+EB+ Emperor's Vigilance interaction... ?

I picked up Emperor's vigilance to boost up my squishy inquisitor, and I already picked MoM a long time ago. I have reserved my mana fully and EB is my resource. When I get hit, does MoM even enter the equation ? or it's just a useless point ?

When the passive skill Eldritch Battery is allocated energy shield protects mana instead of life. This energy shield will absorb the converted non-chaos damage before it is applied on mana. Since chaos damage bypasses energy shield the chaos damage will then be applied directly on mana.
Emperor's Vigilance gives you two new cases to consider, blocked and unblocked hits.

Here's a breakdown of the three total cases you have with the full setup (MOM+EB with 100% Mana reserved):
* Damage Over Time; Non-Chaos is mitigated by MOM (just like all damage is handled without Emperor's Vigilance).
* Blocked Hits; All Hit damage (including Chaos) is mitigated by MOM.
* Unblocked Hits; MOM has no effect on the Hit.

In other words, MOM is not a wasted point. MOM will still protect you from Damage Over Time and the halved damage from Blocked Hits.

Is using the shield worth it? Probably not, since it prevents you from mitigating 30%+ damage from big hits that don't get blocked. You might take those big hits less often, but this shield means they will be 43% stronger when they do land (assuming 30% MOM and enough ES).
