How really effective are Warcries? Calculations.
Hi, I would like to show my calculations and (I hope) answers to questions „To use or not to use warcries?”, „How are they effective?”. All calculations were made for slow hitting character and summed for 10s constant attacking.
![]() Conclusion: - there is no point in no using warcries OR (different look) we’re forced to use Warcries - Call to Arms is very effective for 1 passive investment if you don’t want to use other warcries - mixing warcries has the most potencial (can double the damage) - mixing warcries require passive tree investment - spike damage can be useful for ailments I’m not infallible so if there are mistakes, please let me know. yup im going to be using intimidating cry, which is crucial for my single target and freezing capabilities. ancestral cry for my clear (i'll easily be able to have this up 100% of the time and not need support gem). enduring cry i'll use for endurance charge generation (can sustain afterwards) and for regen when needed.
im going to have customized investment to really tailor the amount of cooldown/cast speed i feel i need - mostly for ancestral cry Last edited by xMustard#3403 on Jun 18, 2020, 1:28:52 PM

" Its attack damage, attack damage does not scale ailments without a special mentioning, nor does double damage.I think the whole purpose of the changes is that strike/slam builds can kill bosses without ailments and without being required to stay in the deathzone of the boss all the time edit: ah nvm seismic cry also scales them with a pure more damage multiplier, that scales ailments too. yea thanks for the research, really interesting how that works out in the grand picture. Whats also interesting is minding Berserker 50% more attack damage (that one does not scale any ailments thats why I had it in mind) for exerted hits here.
Ancestral Cry has 8 exerted hits, intimidating cry only 2. Intimidating is 2*2*1.5 + 6 = 12 for Warbringer Berserker at 8 hits, Ancestral Cry is 8*1.5 = 12. For Berserker its the same if you disregard the intimidating effect from intimidating cry or the free extra strikes for nearby enemies and weapon range from ancestral cry. im going mutli warcry to start the league, my biggest concern is going to be "feel" and optimizing the rotation which has so many moving parts i think it will be easy to screw up.
I am confident that you can do stupid things with warcries and that it will be busted... but only for those who commit to it and even then only great players will break them. I am not even a good player... so i will likely fail lol. |

I think the numbers are really good, but using multiple warcries to buff up your attacks will probably feel extremely clunky due to them not being instant.
Imagine what your playstyle would be like if you stopped to manually cast a curse on every pack. No one would want to play like that. That's what warcries will feel like, except you'll have multiple buttons on separate cooldowns. |

" with a little investment you can get pretty awesome warcry speed times and quite low cooldown times. not just passive investment either, but support gems, sockets pending. |

" Even a 0.32/0.258 cast time (what you end up with with all the passives on the tree/+the new support gem if my math is right) would feel like a lot when rotating through 3-4 Warcries though. I assume tedium is the intended balancing mechanic. As a non-cyclone melee player I'm well-accustomed to tedium and I can't wait to try out some Warcry-stacking slow as molasses build in a couple days. OP it's not clear in your calcs if you took the following into account: FYI warcries can be supported by second wind.
https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Warcry Well everybody enjoy warcry spamming lol Gives streamers & friends queue priority and leaves supporters who spent hundreds $ packs in the 100k queue. GGG: Don't you guys follow streamers? Last edited by ZaeN#4962 on Jun 18, 2020, 10:15:09 PM
