Discipline, Determination and Grace should reserve the same amount of Mana
Since these three auras represent the three basic defenses in the game it is only natural for them to have an equal reservation cost.
Especially with the new keystone around the corner that makes Armour actually worth investing into it would be nice to give Determination an opportunity to shine after all those years (Probably also Grace + Iron Reflexes). inb4 Discipline gets nerfed to 50% reservation Last bumped on Jun 14, 2020, 3:29:11 PM

Determination is actually useless...

Determination is a skill used SOLELY by aura-bots (and im not sure if thats the case anymore)
Its baseline effect is 100% useless for non-mana-guardians, and what is actually amusing is that the Watcher's Eye mods for it are actually better than the skill itself Grace since making Blind available for free - same deal. Flat evasion.. just why? |

" You're not wrong, but the OP makes a good point nonetheless. The game would be far more interesting (and a fuckload easier to balance) if the defense mechanisms associated with different areas of the tree had somewhat vaguely comparable advantages and drawbacks. Qualitatively different, of course. But when one underclasses others so ridiculously that it is largely ignored, there is an obvious problem with the game's design. Wash your hands, Exile!

Defense aura should all be 35% mana reserve and not 50%.
Why use determination when you can use pride or other 50% offensive auras? Why use grace when haste is much better? By making it 35%, it gives players a choice of defense vs offense. Rather than you know, getting laugh by other players for choosing a weaker aura and calling you a noob for choosing defense over offense. |

" Well, the bigger reason for that is that the game's fundamental design increasingly punishes choosing defense over offense. This is a horrible thing in any ARPG for a bevy of reasons, balance being one of them, but it's another topic entirely so I'll leave it alone. Wash your hands, Exile!

" I tried once for a counter-attack Gladiator, invest into dmg when holding shield, blocks, armours. With the craziest investment I have ever made into my skill tree ever before. I died randomly in a mid-tier Atzoatl, only because I have not enough one-shot preventing strategy. WTF? I said. It is ALL about one-shots nowadays, it is not interesting at all. |

I agree, especially about Determination.
I like the idea of this aura and try to use it, because I feel armour is underrated, but even then the 50% reservation is hardly worth the benefit. I would much rather use that same mana for any of the Purities or Discipline, and they're cheaper. Getting flat armour on gear is almost always better. THE ONLY TIME Determination seems worth the while is on a Guardian reserving it with life and with lots of armor already. Instead of % More Armour, it should grant % reduced Physical Damage taken. That way it would actually benefit characters that don't have armour already. Last edited by Dbri#3104 on Jun 14, 2020, 8:41:38 AM

Determination and Vitality should have less mana reservation like 25 or 30%
Need more brains, exile?
