Why does GGG ignore trade bots?
|
title
GGG gathers a lot of data when we are online...it should be pretty obvious that those who sit in the most basic h/o 24/7 at low level, trading 2347926527659 times per day are bots. did they stop caring? is it now okay to have trade bots? Last bumped on Jun 7, 2020, 9:38:38 AM

It's not cost effective or in their interest to do so. Look, we all know that trade chat is a shit trading function, but the alternative without trade bots that you can trade with is worse (not being able to trade at all). If all trading had to be done by humans only then many more of our WTBs would go unanswered. You think it's bad now with dozens of whispers and no responces, just think how much worse it would be if most of these bot accounts were banned.
GGG has never wanted to address the real problem of PoE trading, that being we must be logged into PoE and chained to our gaming rigs to receive the WTB and be able to respond to it. If GGG gave us an alternative way to receive a WTB, like via instant messaging to our smart phone so that, as a seller, we're not forced to be online to receive a trade request (WTB whisper), then killing off all the bot accounts would be desirable. But unfortunately trade is a taboo subject with Chris and company and he goes out of his way to avoid discussing it. GGG is deathly afraid that any improvements for the seller to receive a WTB whisper would open the proverbial floodgates and everyone would have T1 geared exiles in the endgame. That will never happen (someone has to farm/craft high quality gear to put up for sale... or is endgame quality gear being bot farmed to?) but GGG has taken the "We don't want trading to be TOO EASY" policy to the max and is afraid any trade QoL will upset the super high grinding that GGG wants players to have to do. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2247070 |

" man that is one long winded conspiracy theory, instead of the eternal online-multiplayer fact that bots come in far faster than they can ever be banned. GGG is banning them, Chris has said this multiple times, but unless you're brand new to online game bots are not new to path of exile |
|
" If I need to trade currency, I have a few names I look for (obvious bots, but 100% answering) and some of those names are a few leagues old. They either suck at detection/banning or they dont care enough |
|
" soo...if it makes sth easier = its okay? Thats cheater-mentality |
|
" Not all bots are low level. And loads of ppl tend to spend long periods of time sitting in their hideouts and trading (tabbed out doing something else, tabbing in for trades when they hear the ding). And GGG does ban bots - you'll typically see this manifest as a sudden change in a particular currencys' price, such as exalts - but they just come back again, improved, later. Also this - ![]() Botters read the official forums too I expect. Last edited by Exile009#1139 on Jun 7, 2020, 6:27:25 AM

Because trade is in the state it is.
Even though I hate ggg for allowing trade bots to exist imagine the outcry if buyers were left to deal with only afk real exiles who are too lazy to reply to messages. ggg allows trade bots because they keep "muh economy" running. Without those obvious bots people would be spamming non stop reddit with trade related complaints and ggg would have to do something about it. In the current situation ggg gets away with doing nothing about a flawed trade system and people praise bots because they can buy what they want without going through too much hassle. Hell, people keep trade bots on their friend list and can attest that certain bots have been around for several leagues now. ggg keep true to their idea that Wraeclast is a cutthroat place where only the bold get to the top. The exiles that want to play by rl rules qq on the forums about trade bots because they're too afraid to make one. Take the one button flask macro available on the chinese version of PoE. People asked for that to be implemented on the global client and ggg keeps quiet. The same way they ignore the trade bot issue. |

Trade bots are a blessing in disguise
