Unable to switch to vulkan

whether im at the login page or in game, when i reach options, the drop down for switching to vulkan is greyed out. i cant click it.
using GeForce GTX 970M. Drivers updated. Please help. Last bumped on Jun 17, 2020, 2:34:08 PM

the above link worked for me. after i downloaded and installed the driver for vulkan support. i could run vulkan.

Can somebody explain how drivers work? I'm not a technical guy, so I really don't understand why POE would want me to install 3rd party software to run their game.

" Games don't run on magical dust. DirectX just like vulkan is a third party sofware, so are all the frameworks. Every time you install a new game, doesn't matter if it asks you or not, there will be plenty of libraries and APIs installed in the background for the game to run. The difference between Vulkan and DX is that the latter has been used since...the beginning, it's almost as old as PC gaming, Vulkan is gaining popularity only now, but essentially they are the same exact thing. No rest for the wicked.

" No you do not have the same problem, you are not even within the vicinity of the same problem. If you have vulkan installed, and your GPU drivers are up to date, and it's still greyed out, it means your hardware does not support vulkan full stop. So no, it's not the same problem. " Driver is basically software which purpose is to enable communication between Hardware device and Operating System (windows/linux...), without it the OS will not be able to communicate with the device at all or will use some generic driver and device may not be fully functional or operate on degraded performance. Updating drivers is recommended as in the drivers (like all software) can be bugs and these are often fixed in later version.
