Vulkan - Wrong Aspect Ratio for selected lower resolution (16:10)
I have a 26" monitor with native resolution of 1920x1200. That means my monitor natural aspect ratio is 16:10.
Since my PC is older one, I ran PoE in 1280x800 resolution Fullscreen. 1280x800 is also 16:10 aspect ratio, so everything went 'in order' as it should. But with vulkan, my scren is like movie 'letterbox' (top and bottom are in black), and character along with everything you see in-game are deformed (like someone stepped on it with a foot :) The only way when aspect ration is as it should be, is when I select my native monitor resolution which is 1920x1200. Even though it looks more smoother compared to directx 11 with the same resoltion, I would like to keep playing in 1280x800 as it makes the gameplay much more enjoyable (smooth). I know that I had the same issue last year, when I tried to run PoE on linux (Fedora 28), and that I had to edit some lines in xorg.conf file to 'force' the game to read 'EDID' information from my monitor's eeprom chip. I used nvidia's vulkan optimized driver at the time. Since I'm not an expert, I don't know what would be causing the same issue on Windows (seven), but maybe the AR problem revolve around the same thing and maybe this info could help you figureout whats wrong. I tried to make a screenshot, but its not possible while vulkan renderer is turned 'on'. Can you please see if you can make the game respect the proper aspect ratio for (older) 16:10 monitors with lower resolution selected (1280x800)? p.s. I also tried selecting '1680x1050' resolution (since its also 16:10 AR) but its the same. Picture is deformed. Same goes for other 'not 16:10 AR' resolutions. They do 'strach the picture to whole screen but the imag is ofc deformed. With 1280x800 I get 'ltterboxed' deformed picture. Last bumped on May 28, 2020, 11:17:24 AM
