make Scarabs upgradable

Yesterday, I looked at my fragment tab, and I thought:

The idea is great on the paper, but then the values would need to be readjusted.
Let's take an example : Rusted Cartography Scarab : 20% more maps found in area Polished Cartography Scarab : 35% more maps found in area You play 3 white maps. Let's assume that you have just these 3 rusted scarabs and you want to optimize your gain. You have 2 choices, either you keep the 3 rusted scarabs, or you upgrade them to 1 polished scarab. 1st case : you use the rusted scarabs : average = (20+20+20)/3 = 20% more maps on average 2nd case : you use the polished scarab on the first map and no scarab on the two other ones : average = (35+0+0)/3 = 12% more maps on average So it's still more profitable to use the 3 rusted scarabs (of course, if you have the currency to buy polished or gilded scarabs all the time, the argument is not valid anymore, but that's not the point). |

" Actually that sounds perfectly good, you gain efficiency because you only need to run 1 map for the price of value. Sounds like a perfect trade of you have to make. It is no different for sextant upgrade now. You gain 4 packs per simple and 6 per prime. More value to run 3 4 packs rather then 1 6 pack, but efficiency.. If the values of scarabs change on account of this, then I don't want it.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley |

" Why not, I was rather thinking that since you run easily several hundreds of maps per league, and you barely ever find that amount of scarabs, it is more efficient to use a scarab (even rusty) with each one of them. Unless trading for better scarabs ofc. But then again it depends, some ppl run few maps and level their char in rotations (Beachhead, Xoph...) and would prefer to upgrade their scarabs for the few maps they run. Once again, to each his own. |
