Can you chance orb the Cortex map?

I can't find a thread asking this (some that were promising said I didn't have permission to view), and poe wiki doesn't give that information, just tells where it drops etc.

So, is this considered a super duper special item like Atziri's Acuity or is it just like any other map item that you can chance into a unique?

Trying to kill two birds here, get my chance orb challenge and the cortex map challenge.

Yes, it's a "super duper special item" like Atziri's Acuity, thus cannot be chanced.

As a matter of fact, are "Super duper special items that cannot be chanced" the following items:
- Anything that can be dropped only from a specific boss, no matter if it can only be found in a League content. Some examples are:
> Atziri drops (Acuity, Disfavour...)
> Atzoatl drops (Sacrificial Heart, String of Servitude...)
> Shaper drops (Dying sun, Starforge...)
> Elder drops (Watcher's Eye, Shimmerion...)
> Uber Elder drops (Voidforge, Indigon...)
> Delve drops (Doryani's Machinarium, Aul jewellery...)
> Venarius/Memories drops (Circles, Storm's Gift...)
> Pale council members drop (Mind of the Council, Eber's Unification...)
> Bestiary bosses drop (Farrul's Might, Fenumus' Toxin...)
> Vessel of Vinktar, since it drops only from Vinktar's Square boss

- Perandus content (Perandus manor, Varunastra). This is a very specific exception to the "league-influenced map chancing", because Perandus items were either granted by Perandus himself or found into Perandus chests - they didn't actually dropped, thus had not a chance to be found that could be used from an Orb of Chance

- League-exclusive content (minus Perandus content as aforementioned) which is not tied to that League's bosses (Death's rush, Valako's Sign, Headhunter...).
> This can be bypassed by opening a Map which is influenced by a League modifier. For example, opening a Map with Zana's mod "Nemesis" (not an "Antagonist's" Map, which just gives rare monsters a Nemesis mod) will actually add to your drop table, only inside that map, Headhunter and thus it can be chanced/dropped

About Cortex and the Memories, they were an attempt to introduce something from Synthesis into core game. Instead of granting us the Fractured/Synthetized mechanics, the Synthetizer and the Memory Nexus, they just took the 4 Memories encounters plus the Cortex encounter, turned them all into Maps.
Cortex and other maps also have a variable base map type, so that you can happen to find one of them at any possible tier (I dropped my Cortex on a T3 map, even if the Cortex itself has a mod to adjust it to T13).
You can get it either by:

> Dropping them from map bosses. This falls into the "extra unique drop from bosses" Awakening bonus, so this will come easier the more you complete Bonus Objectives
> Among the maps Zana will sell you, just like Elder/Shaper guardian maps (which still falls into another Awakening bonus)

If you wish to do the Orb of Chance challenge, you'll need to chance something that is not the Machinarium and the Perandus Manor. You may want to chance any Vaal Pyramid you find (Atziri's Vault + 3 bosses for the Delirium influenced bosses grind) or Strands (Whakawarua Tuahu + 2 bosses from the Delirium influenced bosses grid, and easier to sustain delirium)

One thing though - unless they changed this in the last few updates or something - you can chance a Starforge if you bring the base type into the Shaper's realm. I think it was Youtube channel "Lighty" that made the video of him doing it successfully.

Eh, I was only going for 36, but I reached that goal with the 37th challenge being "slam an Essence on a ring". So, why not.

Reluctanctly, I've watched Lighty's video. It's a fake video, not even well made. As the comment says, check the timestamp from frames where they chance and where the Starforge is shown. It's clearly not a live chancing, thus unreliable.

The rule still applies: boss-related drop can only be acquired by slaying the boss, trading or specific divination cards that give it, no chancing will do

Highly doubt it is not a bug....all shaper item are boss drop and boss drop is well know to be not able to be chanced.
