Timeless jewel and divine orb interaction

I used a divine orb on a glorious vanity and it rolled sacrificed in the name of "Doryani" into "Zerphi," this is a non numerical value which should not change when divine orbs are used. This is repeatable as the item rolled back to Doryani.

This has made me gunshy about using divine orbs on watchers eyes and other costly items.

Thanks for your report, this is intended.

If you turn on "Advanced Mod Descriptions" in Options --> UI, then hold down Alt on the item you can see what will be modified when a Divine Orb is used.
Alt does indeed show the other possible sacrifice names.

This is an unfair trap for players. Timeless jewels only have 1 random number and a name which change the passives on the tree, the numbers themselves mean nothing to the player. Divine orbs specifically state "Randomises the numeric values of the random modifiers on an item"

Letters are not numbers, I know of no other item where a divine orb changes a non-numerical modifier. I had no logical reason to press alt on this item.

You claim this is intended, please provide some form of additional warning on the item as it does not follow your game's normal logic.
Completely agreed with the OP.

Letters are not numbers, meaning either you change the description of a divine orb, or list the possible outcomes for the leader of all TJs.
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.

Divine Orb:
"
Randomises the numeric values of the random modifiers on an item

Leaders ARE coded as numeric value(s) in those modifiers.
Hard to guess if you're not into "that math stuff", but still...

Bad communication, sure.
Not a bug, sorry.

Like all game code, yes by your logic the leader variables would become a number. So would every single modifier in the game, resulting in the divine orb fully randomizing ALL modifiers of the item, including the item. This defeats the intended purpose of the divine orb which is to allow players to roll the type of modifier they want, then improve the numerical value associated with it.

Changing the Sacrificed in the name of Doryani into Zerphi is the same as changing a circle of anguish from increased effect of herald of ash into +1 max fire resist. Both of these modifiers are numbers, but we all know that we are safe to use a divine orb on 30exalt ring of anguish to improve the numerical values without dropping its value to 20chaos by rolling the modifiers into something else.

GGG says this interaction is intended, this is the only reason it is not a bug.
