Need help with building survivability on elementalist.

Defensive stats for this game boggle my mind and I've never truly figured them out despite I've been playing poe for years. No matter what, by end game i'm getting 1 tapped by everything which leads to me quitting the game time and time again because i can't find guides or anything on how to improve those stats without spending multiple Ex on top tier gear. Idk what to build because if i build anything but straight armor, I'm gonna die to everything as low as tier 1 map rats. Any help would be great because I don't wanna get bored of this game again just because my luck is shit.

I've checked you elementalist and i think in your case it's mostly a numbers problem.
You have less then 4k life, no MOM and hardly any ES. No Evasion, dodge or block and no physical mitigation aside from ~5k armor. Ele resis are maxed which is fine, chaos res should also be ok at -7. Those stats are more or less sufficient for white tier maps but for anything higher you need to up your numbers. You have 117% increased life from your tree, as essentially a life only build you should aim for 180+. On top of an higher HP pool you also want to invest more into defenses. Enduring Cry for example would be an easy 12% extra phys mitigation. Combine that with some sort of blind delivery system (orb of storms with blind support for example) and Vaal Grace as an "oh shit" button to increase avoidance. Then there is steelskin/arcane cloak as additional buffer options. That being said, at the end of the day you're a witch so your best defense will always be manually avoiding attacks. Physical damage is arguably the most common damage source and also the one causing most one shots. Tier 16 bosses can do 10k+ physical damage in one hit with their telegraphed attacks and there aren't many options for a witch to stack enough physical mitigation to avoid a one shot from stuff like that. |

If you look at poe ninja, there are no elementalists at 100 yet, which says something. But it's still a good place for research. Filter on your main skill and check some of their PoBs. Every ascendancy has a set of better defensive options - I've never played an ele so can't help you much with it.
Ninja is a good source, or break down and check a guide for ideas. |

You may need a six socket.
There is a trick to level fast and without dying. But it will take some time to practice. That how players level very fast without any equipment. All you need to do is to use movement and to use ur skills, then move away. Dont stay on the same spot. POE has a fatal weakness. It is the worst arpg on pc because the screen space is actually very small. So most of the mobs are locked just a few steps from your screen and wont be able to move. when you attack very quickly, you got to click on the border of the screen and you will be flying, kill, flying kill. The mobs have no time to react or to touch you. This is a well known exploit for rushing levels without equipment. |

" Idk what works because there's not a single guide to building better defensive stats nor is there any guides around my build anyways so i have no idea what direction to go in since i can't afford good gear due to being stuck at tier 1 maps barely able to get through it. My damage is now lacking due to trying to build my defensive stats better but that in turn just fucked me even more.. They make building defensives so complicated especially for late game. |

" I've tried looking and can't find anything.. Elementalist doesnt have much for defensive options unless i focus on the 2 golem traits and stack chaos golem phys reduction. |
|
" ^ This. Elementalist doesn't tanky unless you go the Golem path, stacking either life regen / reduction and buffing the golem aura effect. Never invite Vorana, Last To Fall at a beer party.

As others have mention, Golems. I’m looking into building an Arc Witch with 9 golems. It’ll have at least 580% increased golem buff effect putting L22+ Chaos Golem at 34% physical mitigation. Add in a Basalt Flask for 15% and possibly 3 Endurance charges for 12%, and she’ll wind up with 61% physical damage mitigation. Armour (especially from a Granite Flask of Iron) is just a bonus on top of that. I’d like to get the mitigation higher, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to reach it within reason.
