Combustion on secondary skill

To my understanding, Ignite deals the damage of 1 ignite only, but registers all ignites made on enemy. That said, my question is:

* If I ignite a monster with a secondary fire skill supported by Combustion, will the Combustion Debuff (exposure) stay on the mob even after receiving the fire damage from the main skill?

Note: I´m not asking about Ignite damage staying, but the Combustion debuff dealt. I´ve searched everywhere and couldn´t find an answer to this. Please help.

It should, but I cannot guarantee it. Typically all instances of a buff like that remain but only the highest damage is in effect. That is to ensure that if the lesser buff/DoT were to still have duration after the greater one wears off, you do not go without.

I can say that is not always true as my testing has shown Maim Support and Flesh & Stone only stack when linked. But that is a debuff, not a damaging ailment, and I think ailments will never overwrite another ailment. Also in the Maim scenario both sources are providing the same debuff. It should be more akin to running two of the same flasks and getting different Suffixes active but only a single implicit.

Good question, I dont know for sure just like the gentlemen before, I intuitively guess the debuff is active even if its not the most damage dealing igntie. But if it is the most damage dealing ignite stack its active 100% sure.

But thanks OP for the idea of giving combustion on my ancestral warchief and running infernal blow with elemenal focus so I gonna have it for sure on all those stupid ass bossfights.

Maybe one day levelling from scratch with infernal blow will be a thing thanks to stuff like that.

And to make the discussion even more complicated: You sure its the exposure debuff? I didnt read that anywhere nor the wiki says anything about it:

and if it is then it might not stack with the wave of conviction debuff which would be rather unfortunate.

I think its just - enemy fire res without having a special debuff tag.

First, it's not an exposure but a completely separate debuff, meaning it stacks with the actual fire exposure.

Second, it doesn't matter where it comes from, so yes, it will work for your main skill even if applied by a secondary skill.

I´m using it either on Ancestral Protector totem or the Instant Vortex skill (with some added fire damage
