Aspect of the Avian VS Spider ?
What are the pro's and con's these two between ?
I'm playing a fast non-crit RT warcry cyclone zerk so Aspect of the cat is not an option and feel tanky enough without crab barrier's. Thanks / R -Nerf Last bumped on Mar 26, 2020, 10:37:56 AM

Aspect of the Avian:
- Pros: > when avian might is active, it doesn't care about distance > effectively 10% more damage > stacks with other sources of double damage chance for more consistent big hits - Cons: > stacks with other sources of double damage, useless on paradoxica for example > only active about half the time without the help of some saqawal uniques, which have undesirable stats for the most part > chance based Aspect of the Spider - Pros: > always active once activated > brings defense with the slow > effectively 15% more damage > Fenumus' uniques are fairly powerful, giving the aspect strong boni - Cons: > takes time to ramp up to full effect > stacks additively with other increased damage taken effects on enemies, which are not as uncommon as chance to deal double damage > is range based TL; DR: for cyclone, go pick up fenumus gloves. I make dumb builds, therefore I am.

Still, aspect of the spider. For cyclone it should be better. Grab some piece of equipment with it. Just keep in mind that, in general and on builds that can use any gloves, the fenumus gloves are incredibly strong.

Then again, for Cyclone, movement speed on Avians is also very nice, and double damage will proc quite often, since you hit a million times per second.

Yeah, aspect of the spider is better mathematically.
Aspect of the avian has 50% uptime for each mode, so you can think of it roughly as 5% increased movespeed and 5% double damage chance on average over a sustained period. Meanwhile, spider is 15% increased damage taken to enemies over a sustained period (since you're always in webbing range). To make avian better dps than spider, you thus need a total of at least 200% increased damage taken from other sources, and no more than 0% double damage chance (higher double damage chance results in needing higher increased damage taken from other sources). Even with a really balls to the wall increased physical damage taken build, you can get at most flesh and stone with maim, war banner with generosity, vulnerability with a bunch of curse effect... you're going to hit at most 150% increased physical damage taken against regular enemies, and more like 80% against bosses. So spider is going to be way more effective. |
