Timeless jewel - illusion or power?

Hi
I crafted good jewels having 240% of increased minion damage (elegant hubris may be) but - allocating necessary nodes, - i spent such tremendous amount of passive-skill points that using this jewel was not worth. For example: I spent 20 nodes to activate these 240% increaset damage whereas i could activate common nodes without jewel for 190% increaseв damage. The profit is: 240-190=50% increased damage - but isn't it worth it??? Regarding that i also need to allocate Spiritual aid (keystone node) to convert 240% minion damage to character damage. use it on a minion build that was already taking spiritual aide?

" Thanks to your reply I described the general situation for timeless jewels For example: if the jewel has 15% of increased chance to inflict double damage then i hav to allocate so tremendous amount of passive-skill-points that it is not worth it bcoz using the same amount of passive points i can allocate such big amount of common damage-nodes that it will almoust equal to these 15% increase double chance The only benifit of using timeless jewel is to craft 400% increased damage or 30% of double damage chance that will compensate passive points spent... There are PLENTY of timeless jewels that are 'better' than just taking passive points on the tree. Maybe you have one, maybe you dont.
Not all characters will be easily able to find a jewel. If you dont think your jewel is worth it, dont use it. of the characters i have, only 1 or 2 of them are using a timeless jewel, because the jewel slot i put it in was already being taken, and it is better than any other jewel i currently have.
