What you were standing in was Caustic Ground, not Poison. Poison is an Ailment applied by Hits, while Caustic Ground is a ground effect dealing damage over time.
all poison is chaos damage.
not all chaos damage is poison.

all sodas are drinks. not all drinks are sodas.
Fire is the element, Ignite is the Ailment
Cold is the element, Chill is the Ailment
Lightning is the element, Shock is the Ailment
CHAOS is the "element" (or base damage type), Poison is the Ailment

Immune to poison has it's benefits, but will not protect you from chaos ground effects, or chaos damage. Only protects from the damage over time placed on you from chaos damage (Al-Hezmin fight snakes do some SERIOUS poison DoT).

This is a bit tricky, since both physical and chaos damage can potentially cause poison
Love this thread. I knew poison was the ailment, but I wasn't clear on ground stuff.

After I got Terror of the Infinite Drift's soul, I did try walking across caustic ground to see if I took damage (and I did), fortunately not having to die to find out.

Those damned snakes are much kinder to me now, though.

If you're talking about the ground effect that comes from the map mod, that's "desecrated" ground, not "caustic" ground. Kind of an annoying distinction, it basically takes away whatever small chance that Pantheon power had of being actually useful.
as others have pointed out, the problem is that you dont know what poison is

use the wiki. it has the answer the most of the noob/stupid questions. This forum section is good for asking questions wiki cant/does not answer. I like those..

No I meant actual caustic ground from dead zombies or similar.
