Melee Physical Damage % And Skills that Convert

Hey all, I'm a newbie getting into POE and I'm wondering if the passive skill tree nodes like +12% melee physical damage apply before or after the conversion that takes place from skills like Ice Crash or Molten Strike?

Also, I'm seeing a fair amount of nodes in the Marauder tree that have +damage from ailments. Which ailments should I be considering if I want to get those nodes? Is bleed the main one for Melee Marauders?

Yes it's counted in before conversion.
I probably wouldn't worry about the ailments as primary source of dmg and it really depends on the rest of your build.

As the one above me stated; the increases from the tree applies before the conversion. Be aware (as you used Molten Strike as an example) that certain "melee" skills are divided; with one melee portion, and one portion that isn't melee. If you're using Molten Strike, every damage node on the tree that says "melee damage" will only boos your initial hit, but not the damage from the projectiles. "Physical damage", "attack damage" and weapon specific nodes will scale both.

When it comes to ailments, you really need to build around ailments for those stats to matter, be that bleed or ignite. If you're just scaling pure attack damage, you should just ignore ailment damage. You can still take the nodes, most nodes on the tree with ailment damage, also have the damage type you need.
