does GGG not care about RMT?
|
there is this guy in general discussion right now who has a 3 week old account and has multiple hundreds of exalts worth of gear so someone pointed out the obvious and i made a slightly similar comment and our posts got removed right away. its one thing to ignore scammers but such obvious RMT needs to be dealt with but the only people who get punished our the ones who point it out? these forums have really gone downhill, i sometimes wonder why i continue to stay here
ps, i didnt even get a pm from the mods about the removed post edit- i posted this in feedback and got moved to GD which is fine because more people will see it here Last edited by Lyutsifer665#1671 on Feb 5, 2020, 12:04:15 PM Last bumped on Feb 6, 2020, 4:49:49 AM

Because they want the game economy to go downhill. Reason - it makes economy unfriendly for average player. That's why they refuse to make trade good for players, encouraging bots and making it a great target for RMT.
Organic chemistry is a weird thing. If you add a spoon of shit to a barrel of jam you'll get a barrel of shit. Last edited by Oblitus#2951 on Feb 5, 2020, 11:48:52 AM

I personally don't care as much as i made a now deleted joke about it, the most common approach to RMT is to do nothing, the next is to occasionally go after the sellers.
I have never seen anybody go after the buyers no matter how obvious they are, probably because the ramifications of getting it wrong could be pretty severe. For example that dude could have dropped a mirror, its far from impossible just unlikely. If i ran a similar business i'd probably be in the do nothing camp. Not because i think its good for the game but because its very involved to combat effectively. Scammers though i'd literally have proxy agents trying to buy shady shit and banning when they go for the switch. Also dude having your post deleted isn't a punishment, insinuating the guy RMT'd is against the forum rules as it could be construed as an attack. I get it I mean i'd like to see them delete obviously trolling posts as well but I get it. If i was a forum mod i'd have deleted my post too. " it is because it leaves a strike on your account and after 3 you get put on probation. also i dont think you have seen my post,it wasnt trolling at all. i can pm it to you if you want |

" +1 to both points there. They can target automation and bottling, because that is easy to track, but how do you track RMT? Is it against ToS for you to give your friend or even a random stranger a handout? Would you retain a solid player base if bans got handed out for something so minuscule? You can track one way trades, but you then have to differentiate between a sold service. What if you buy something for 1500c, how to differentiate that extra 300c trade? They would need to delve into account records to see if something valuable dropped...or maybe they bought a mirror from a scrub for a couple chaos because the newb didn’t know better. Can’t target transactions with bit accounts because you don’t know why a transaction was made...not that I think sellers would operate off bot accounts, only trade with themselves. All that is very expensive and will do very little when a bit farmer only invests a few minutes creating an account and running a program, and GGG would have to pay someone hours to check and verify everything only to risk losing a potential investor. It’s called risk management, and it’s only prosperous for GGG to invest in combating RMT if nets an average profit increase (or at least not enough of a profit loss to counter their vision of the game). Plus, I bet farmers actually purchase quite a bit in currency stash tabs, not that that portion is significant to GGG’s profit margin. And while Tencent may be content (or contractually obligated) to let GGG operate PoE as they see fit, you can rest assured they would not sit by if Tencent took a major profit cut combating a profitable Chinese market. |

Exalts = RMT
I dont want anything to do with these golden turds anymore. They are tainted. Love oldschool item vs item trading. It has come to a point that practically no one is using them as a medium of exchange but are hoarding them to sell to rmt-sites. 1) Could've dropped a mirror, as someone just stated.
2) Could be an alt/new account belonging to someone who has played the game for years This is why we have the "no name and shame" policy, because people jump to conclusions way too fast, and "destroy" someone's reputation in public. I'm not saying he's NOT RMT'ing, I'm just saying there might be explanations here, beyond the obvious. When it comes to tackling RMT, there's no "winning" for GGG. In a F2P game, where people can make as many account as they like, RMT will always be a losing battle. It might seem to us that they are doing nothing, but we have no clue what they are doing behind the scenes, or how many they ban. They can't just say "OBVIOUS RMT", like you and I can, they have to be 100% sure. And no, you are not 100% sure. Anyhow, I'm sure they could be doing more. But it's a matter of prioritizing, I guess. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" Yep so trash tier that none exist like it. Helmet has quite some potential in poe 2 as players will be using multiple skills instead of spamming one they do now. IF it is trash, then everything is trash in standard (or must I say scrubcore)? All the gear you wear is also bloody trash. Also stick to the topic at hand. If RMT was a priority, they would've solved the chat spam problem years ago.
