What do you think, more Critical chances or more Multiplier?
I have a dilemma between these two alternatives:
In the current state of my build I can't distinguish whether one or the other is better... Option 1: Critical Chance 64.46% and 355% multiplier Option 2: Critical Chance 42.48% and 473% multiplier If I go to a map and do tests with both options the results seem to be the same. Anyway, this character is just on Tier 2 maps. What do you think is best for more advanced maps? Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what? Last bumped on Oct 4, 2023, 2:05:36 AM

Best is More, every thing wif (MORe damage) add global damage.

These supports are usually not the best DPS increase on crit builds. If you're using spells usually controlled destruction is picked over them and attacks also have plenty of more multipliers available.

" You really want to play around in Path of Building. If you're not following a guide that ranks your support options, PoB is the best way to evaluate. Not just for gems, but for passives and gear stats as well. But those two are outclassed by other supports in many builds, as Vesuvius mentioned. |

Well just comparing the two is simple math
Crit Chance = .6446 * (1 + 3.55) + (1 - .6446) = 3.28833 Crit Damage = .4248 * (1 + 4.73) + (1 - .4248) = 3.009304 As is almost always the case, crit chance wins out. I’m a bit confused how someone who managed to level to 99 couldn’t figure this out... |

" Because I'm a casual player. That level 99 character went through many different builds (to avoid boredom) and the process took more than 1 year. I also recently returned from a retreat of more than 2 years. 1 month ago I didn't know how to play XD Anyway, I have read all the comments and it's appreciated. Except for the first 2 who didn't even know what the question was :P Bethesda is known for having good ideas and terrible realization of them. GGG is a Bethesda subsidiary or what?

" I'm not sure you can compare critical hit chance and critical hit damage on their own as they both affect each other and the final damage output. There will surely be certain thresholds where one stat or the other is better. This will be further impacted by use of Diamond flask. Best way to find answer to this question is to import your character gear and build to POB and add incremental critical chance or critical hit damage to find out, which is giving you more damage at your level of gear. My general rule is to get unbuffed critical hit chance as close to 50% as possible, at which point I will start adding critical hit damage. This is due to use of Diamond flask that rolls critical hit chance calculation twice. I also am willing to accept lower critical hit chance on dual-wielding fast hitting builds as opposed to slow, hard hitting two-hand builds where I want to critical hit chance as high as possible if I go this root. |

" The OP mentioned his crit chance and crit multi stats with both options and those figures are used by Aldones in his simple math, which is sufficient for the question asked by OP. For sure POB is the best solution to compare, but i doubt that anyone will get an accurate result using POB without understanding the math used by Aldones. It's as well right that things like diamond flask will push the numbers more into the direction of crit dmg support. As well Vesuvius is right by mentioning that both gems are not the optimal solution with all the avable options (including awakened gems) out there. Best regards Bernhart |

" I somehow spaced out the stats in OP post, my bad. PoB is the best way to compare those stats exactly when you do not know the math behind. If I know the math behind, I can calculate it on my own. If I do not know the math, I just import my stats to PoB and let the tool do the calculation for me. Thank gods, and its creator, for PoB that allowed anyone mildly interested in the inner workings of PoE to find our more about their characters and how to optimize it. I can make lots of guesstimates based on my experience but when it comes to fine tuning your character or spending multiple exalts on purchasing single piece of gear, PoB is irreplaceable. |
