Question about Orb of Storms/shock

So I'm using Lightning Tendrils + Orb of Storms. I have Elemental Focus with Lightning Tendrils meaning it has no chance to shock. If I don't use EF with Orb of Storms, then that ability can shock. Orb has two sources of damage. The damage to mobs in radius one I'm sure can shock, albeit with infrequent and low damage. The more important component is that it adds additional damage to LT if I'm standing in radius. My question is, is that extra damage treated as Orb of Storms damage, meaning it could shock, or is it instead treated as just additional damage to LT, in which case it can't.

I'm thinking if those additional bolts added to LT can shock, I can spec into Beacon of Ruin and get minimum 15% shock effect while still being able to use EF on LT.

you're not reading Orb of Storms correctly. It does not add ANYTHING to your other spells.

Creates a stationary electrical orb that frequently unleashes a splitting bolt of lightning at a nearby enemy. Modifiers to cast speed will increase how frequently it does this. Using a lightning skill while inside the orb's cloud unleashes additional bolts.

Orb of storms is always doing its own damage. Yes, it will do more frequent zaps if you're also casting, but ALL of the damage comes from orb of storms itself. all of this damage can shock. though the shock effect will be fairly small due to hits being small + frequent.

Now, possibly you also have Innervate Support in your Orb.

This DOES give a small amount of lightning damage to ALL spells (assuming the condition of killing a shocked enemy recently is met). That lightning damage will become a part of whatever other spells you're using, and will be modified by anything that spell is modified by, including elemental focus.

OK that is what I thought and it answers my question.

I will point out that if I spec Beacon of Ruin it doesn't matter how low the OOS damage is because I get guaranteed 15% shock effect. So I don't have to choose between using EF on LT with its whopping 49% "more" bonus and getting shock. I can have both. Thanks!
