Bring back talisman upgrade opportunity
With Blight and Metamorph we finally see an increase in drop rates of talismans.
I'd hope that soon GGG implements a way to upgrade them to a higher tier just as it was possible during the Talisman League a few years ago. I'd like that, how about you guys? https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Talisman “Human decency is not derived from religion. eh - you can still upgrade amulets to talismans and actually get a talisman that is worth a damn. unlike the other options

I know that but I meant specifically upgrading the Tier of the Talisman.
As is now most of the talismans are just thrown away (or not?). At least with that upgrade-method there is a slight chance to get something meaningful. The way to upgrade them doesn't necessarily have to be the same as in Talisman League. Maybe they could come up with a new way of upgrading them. “Human decency is not derived from religion. I would just be happy if they would let Cassia anoint them. Talismans feel so much weaker then regular amulets because the lack of the ability to anoint. Even a low tier anointment can be better then a talisman.

"Having Jorgin convert an amulet into a Talisman preserves the anointment. I don't think GGG could come up with many alternative talisman crafting optiosn that would be as good or better than just having Jorgin make you one out of an existing amulet. |

" Can confirm: " Back at Talisman, they were corrupted because they were intended by design not being craftable, maybe because of their implicit being overall a better choice over amulet implicit. Vanilla amulets are about attributes and petty life/mana regen, then came Atlas amulets which boosted the latter enough with the Marble and Blue Pearl in order to make them in par with some talismans. Talismans, though, are more offensive (standard) or defensive (hardcore), and the former gets quite a nice boost on damage with the Elemental Damage with Attacks: Back then, however, implicit were still perceived as something only a corruption should have been able to change - Labyrinth would have come a league later with Perandus, and we had to wait several leagues before Enchantments and Implicit took two separate slots in an item. With Betrayal, we could have the chance to roll a good amulet, then try to further upgrade it to a Talisman-tier - even better now that the old "standard vs hardcord content is different" mindset has fallen. The idea of a craftable talisman was made in that moment, and I don't think it impacted the game so bad to not let it happen again. Frankly, turning an amulet to a talisman is no more different than just corrupt it right away - you just have a different pool of corruption outcome depending on the bench level, and you sacrifice the chance of a double corruption they allowed recently. Anointing could potentially make a talisman even more potent than this. And frankly, it is something that is already happening and it still doesn't stir too much the game. I too would like to see talisman anointed, but I would understand if, conceptually, they would not let Cassia touch something "pagan" like an Ezomyte tribal fetish " What Antigegner wanted to say is that, right now, most of the talisman can be only used as vendor trash OR good for low-level game because extra damage, and it would be nice to let those levelling/trash items have a chance to be redeemed en masse with a mechanic pretty similiar to Metamorph and a battle not more different than a Bestiary encounter. GGG has the means to make Stone Circles appear randomly - they did it back at Legacy league. Only thing I can think that could hold this Stone Circle return is, of course, allowing back the Rigwald battle and upgrading talisman uniques (which was only a 20% chance to happen even back then, mind you). Let me think… * Rigwald's ring: Spectral Wolves are a thing since Scourge, and we have now a way to make minions summon minions with Summon Phantasm. More rings would be nice * Rigwald's sword-and-axe: Back then they had By The Blade and Deadly Dilettante to help this style, now the latter is gone. Dual Wield has also changed a lot its mechanics, so we can't even do funny things like reaving only with the sword. It's more a stylistic choice and they were meant to be used together, so… it could be a good way to revamp dual wield like that? * Rigwald's quiver: I think this is the only significant introduction. Quills are now obtainable easily via divCard, and they are still now the only way to make projectiles fork without relying on support. I don't know how much bow builds use Slivertongue, or if Spark/Spork builds are still a thing, but would it impact so much in the game/economy having more Quills around? I approve of this.
Never played Talisman league, but I went havoc grinding Talismans in Legacy league. And I loved it. I can't think of one reason why they decided to remove it completely. It's not like they're very OP in the current META. Just give us a Talisman altar in Lair/Dark Forrest map, and a chance for it to spawn in Delve, and I'd be a happy, old man. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

" You're welcome, Antigegner :) Metamorph can reward unique talismans, So maybe even Eyes of the Greatwolf could be an outcome? It do was a Rigwald-only unique, though... Last edited by Maxtrux#0762 on Jan 10, 2020, 5:26:58 AM
