Need help with Explosive Arrow

Hello,

I'm trying to get my head around computing DPS for Explosive Arrow. I thought I got it figured out but my DPS is nowhere near my estimations.

Here is a Google Sheets link of what I simulated + what I think my current build is doing.

Technically on single target I should be doing 3M+ ignite DPS but I highly doubt it seeing how long it takes me to melt a t16 boss.

Can somebody point out where are my mistakes ?

Hi Galagrum,

it is very very difficult to understand your calculation and i want to avoid to do a deep dive into your spreadsheet for that reasons.

But maybe we can have a look on some general aspects, which might be missing in your calculation:

- what is your chance to ignite? (you are skipping some important notes in the passive tree for that and your EA gems have no quality, which is huge)
- what is your chance to hit?
- you are using lvl 16 EA in both setups -> 428 dmg per fuse (how you calculated your higher figures in spread sheet?)

I would go for 100% chance to ignite (without flamability) and 100% chance to hit. If both are e.g. only 80% your dmg is only 0,8 x 0,8 = 64% of your potential.

Thanks for taking the time.

My chance to hit is 95% and and Ignite is 90% (tree not complete yet).



Here is my lvl 70 Scion with a 5L setup. With one fuse I do 1026 to 1539 Ignite damage BEFORE Effective DPS Mods. SO let say 1275, as I wrote at the bottom left of my spreadsheet.

My attack speed is 6.75 APS, that's the second column.

The duration of my fuse is 1.61 second, that's my 3rd column.

The number of arrow per attack is 8 (GMP + Barrage), 4th column.

The actual attack speed is reduced due to Barrage and PoB doesn't change it, that's a bug on PoB I think. The actual AS should be Original AS / (1 + 0.05 x number of projectiles), 5th column.

Source count is 1 cause it's just me not, not my 5 ballistas, 6th column.

Fuse count is APS x Arrows x Fuse duration x Source count, 7th column.

Finally, 8th column is the ignite from that source. 1 fuse damage x Fuse cout x (1 + 0.03 x Fuse count) x Effective DPS mods.

The last column adds the fuse from my self attacks to my balistas and the formula is bit more complicated.

you calculation seems correct, so possible impacts i can think of that your real dps is lower than calculated dps are the following:

- 95% chance to hit * 90% chance to ignite = 85,5% --> 14,5% less damage
- is 90% Chance to ignite in POB considering the mob to be affected by flammability (i dont see flammability used in your profile and i can't imagine how you get to this number skipping some important nodes in passive tree and without quality on EA gem
- besides chance to hit you won't be able to hit with 100% of your arrows with barrage support, because they spread a little and in my experience at least 20% of your own arrows and a lot more from balistas arrows will miss --> huge damage loss vs. calculation
- elemental resistances of monsters are huge this league and you have to make sure to get as much pen as possible (EE, flammability, ele weakness, ...); this made a huge difference for me playing EA

Besides all my comments and our previous discussion, there seems to be a bugg with EA not applying any Ignites if you stack more than 100 arrows per fuse.

So if you (self + totems) are stacking more than 100 arrows you will deal like no damage at all.
