path of building fork to "local identity"

so i came across this build guide that i like and this guide is using path of building fork to local identity which requires me to mess with path of building hidden files on my pc manually. i,m a bit scarred it,s not some sort of identity thief scam going on behind it so i would like to know if any1 done this before and if it,s safe for me to do that? https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2591825/page/1 here is a link to a guide that is asking to install a fork

just checked it out outta curiosity, seems like a legit piece of work from LocalIdentity. the manifest.xml is just a config for the original PoB to download new source files for the improvements off github, source files can be verified but seriously im not going to bother, my OS is Linux so i don't even have a virus scanner and i honestly couldn't be bothered sandboxing it. It works and it does have some nice improvements so when i have time i'll look at it further.
I didn't install PoB, i used the standalone and just copied and pasted the standalone to another location and then modded the .xml which for me is in the local folder the .exe is in so no searching my hd for hidden folders. Let it update to use the forked version. If your concerned with security check the source files here :- https://github.com/LocalIdentity/PathOfBuilding and concider running any software your not sure about in a sandbox, Sorry im so longtime retired m$ user so i forget how to do that |
