Impale support question.
If I am reading the impale support gem correctly, when I link it to Reckoning and it triggers, the mob should then have -30% total physical damage against impale hits. Is this ALL impale hits? For example, I have 100% impale chance on my main skill without the use of the impale support. Once I trigger Reckoning and it then impales the mob, will my main skill's impales now benefit from the -30% total physical damage reduction against impale hits? Does anyone have a source for this? I can't seem to find anything. The way the support gem reads, I would think it works the way I described. Thanks. DISCLAIMER! I think it's only for the hit that does the impale.

The wording is "Enemies Impaled by supported skills have -PDR against Impale Hits", which implies that as long as an Impale from Reckoning is on the enemy, all Impales will have the -PDR. How well that works in practice depends on how often Reckoning hits and how often you hit in the meantime, since the Impale will wear off once its 5/7/9 hits have been used up.

So if reckoning triggers, it applies an impale stack along with the -PDR. The next hit by any source would consume that impale and the -PDR until reckoning triggers again?

The issue is that in your scenario Reckoning Impales are different from other Impales, in that they apply -30% PDR to Impale Hits. Each Impale applies its reflected damage for five hits, and is then removed. When Reckoning hits, the enemy gets an Impale that applies -PDR against all Impales. If you then hit four times with e.g. Cyclone, the enemy will get four Cyclone Impales and use up four of the Reckoning Impale's hits; each Cyclone hit will also consume a use of the Impales applied before it, and each of those uses will get the -PDR. The next Cyclone hit will use up the last of the Reckoning Impale, and until Reckoning hits again, the enemy will have only Cyclone Impales that don't apply -PDR.

Well that kind of kills the awesomeness of linking impale to reckoning. Back to onslaught I suppose, until I get my hands on awakened curse on hit. Thanks

If you have an Ancestral Protector and/or Warchief, you could support it with Impale Support. Protectors in particular hit fairly often, and since they use your modifiers, they should have 100% chance to Impale just like you do, so if they stay alive against big bosses, they should be able to keep the -PDR up.

This could be a dumb a question, but does impale work if your using a mace as your weapon.
