How Does "LA Hits 2 Additional Enemies" Enchant Work?

Any info would be helpful. It feels like it has more AOE clear, but I can't get my head around how it actually works?

Never played the build but I assume that means it hits up to 5 additional enemies rather than 3, if they are close enough to your target. So should definitely improve the clear.

I thought about that but it's the arrows that hit the enemies - you have 5 and then they pierce etc. How can IT hit the enemies, the arrows do that. I mean I don't get the intuition and wording of this or how it works still.

When I replace my standard mapping enchant (40% LA damage), the amount of enemies targetted in the tooltip are still 3.

When the arrow hits the enemy, three nearby enemies are chosen to be struck by lightning. With the enchantment, two additional enemies are chosen. The enchantment doesn't change how many enemies are hit by the arrow, it changes how many enemies are hit by the secondary bolts of lightning.
from the wiki

"
Hits Additional Targets: When an arrow strikes a target, up to 3 randomly chosen enemies (up to 5 with the Labyrinth enchantment) within an area around that target will also be struck for the same amount of damage. The area within which Lightning Arrow can hit additional targets has a base radius of 18 and is affected by area of effect modifiers. However, this damage is not affected by modifiers to area damage.

so while having 2 additional enemies hit might not actually help you at all because of radius being the limiting factor, this radius can be improved with area of effect modifiers
That makes a lot of sense, got it. Thanks!
