Steps to switch from steam to standalone client

Hello community,

I just recently realized that the steam client of the game takes a lot of time when it is pre-allocating the game files around 15 ~ 20 mins. And that is every time I open steam or restart my PC.

I couldn't find a proper reference to properly switch from the steam client to the standalone one. I decided to make this thread so anyone who knows how to make the switch, without having to re-download the whole game, could share it with the community.

Just follow this guide from GGG and then you can use both clients -->

If you created your Path of Exile account via Steam, it will not have an associated email address on our end.

If you would like to add an email address to your Steam Path of Exile account so you may use the stand-alone client, you should be able to do so by logging into our website using the green 'Sign in through STEAM' button on our login page, then navigating to the 'change email' page here: https://www.pathofexile.com/my-account/change-email and proceeding to change the email on your account to the email you would like to sign in with on the stand-alone client for Path of Exile.
