searing touch staff or a good wand ?

Hey , can you tell me what is best and why? is the +2 to fire gems so important at this item ? because i can get much better wand with more spell power .. and if this staff has let's say 40 increased spell damage .. and 26 increased fire dmg .. this means that my actual fire damage ( firestorm gem in staff ) is increased with 66 % ?

thx in advance

It depends on a lot of factors, and there isn't a simple "yes" or "no" answer for you.

Staff can be 4/5/6 linked, wand and shield can't, this might matter a lot or might not depending on your other gear and gems.

You give up defensive stats from a shield by using the staff, but whether or not that's a problem depends on your play style and the content you are farming.

The value of +2 gem levels varies based on the spell you're using and the support gems linked with it. The amount of damage increases you have in your passive tree and other items can make wand/shield better or worse.

The specific wand and shield stats that you have access to are important. A decent or good wand might be worse than the staff but a nearly perfect wand might be better. You need to assemble all of your relevant stats and do the math, or just swap between the two setups and see which performs better for you.
+2 to fire gems is a big modifier, and a Searing Touch can have (theoretically) 6L, whereas your wand can have only 3L.

It is definitely possible to get a wand with better % mods than the staff has, but you'll never be able to match the +2 fire gems capability. That being said, with a wand you also get a shield - and that is something you cannot match with the staff.

Everything is a tradeoff.

BTW - bumping your post five or whatever times is generally frowned upon, most of the time. Especially when some of them are only a few minutes apart.
I was using searing touch but felt like i needed more ES but also didn't feel like giving up the +2 Fire Gem boost. Luckily I stumbled upon this wand, bit of both worlds with a slight compromise in dps.
