How are the standalone client Korean servers vs. playing on Steam with Japan or Singapore?

American here living in Korea for the next few years due to work. In order to play on Steam due to the region block I have to VPN to Japan/Singapore and then play on the corresponding POE server for whichever. The problem is, as many Asian players know, both of those servers have horrible network performance despite having decent ping

For any Koreans or Asian players who have played on both, how much better are the Korean servers you can use if you use the standalone client? Is it worth it enough to swap your account off of Steam?
