PoE 1 vs PoE 2
|
Help me understand this. Will there be two different apps with poe 1 being older and poe 2 being new one, two separate clients?
Because if not calling it "Path of Exile 2" is just a marketing move. While in fact it will be just massive expansion with one clinet app and improvements made to it. So I imagine "poe 1" would be only that campaign You will be able to choose and thats it. All the skill gems, gear, talents reworks will be same for both "poe 1 and poe 2". Right? I know all player come and say : "ahahah nice, u have try a bot u get ban, sooo nice" but i tell u its just for try, for see and for know. I have use this 10 minutes maximum and i have insta uninstall." - some not-too-bright dude, 2013; Joined 2012, † 2013. Last bumped on Dec 3, 2019, 3:44:42 AM

Its all one client. Its not really fair to just call it a marketing move though. An entire new campaign, updated graphics, updated skill system, 19 new ascendancies, new animations, etc. It meets all the requirements to be called a sequel, I don't see why it should lose that just because they still let you play the original campaign if you want.

" Well I didnt mean it in a bad way. Still only true "poe1" thing will be that old campaign. So yea technically it is an update (massive one I admit) not a separate product. In that case calling it poe 4.0 makes even more sense ;p EDIT: and btw same thing is going on in Warframe (it has similar growth model) and DE is calling it expantions. Never heard name Warframe 2. What Im trying to say is this kind of practise is just upgarding and expanding what u already have not making separate product from the ground up. The rest is up to how to market and name it. Last edited by Sarn88#3369 on Dec 2, 2019, 4:26:19 AM

Imagine PoE 2 being playable with a distinct client different from PoE 1 would it make more sense to call it PoE 2 then ? I understand it can be disturbing but with all the changes it makes sense to call it a new game. It’s basically what Blizzard did with D4 : the same engine as D3, but upgraded, and with a new campaign. It’s up to people to see it as an upgrade or a new game, but it’s fair to say it’s not only a marketing move.

"All in all it will be stand alone new client, a new product. If we are talking Blizzard look at this: some time ago they anounced Heroes of the Storm 2.0 (their now dying moba). It's the same deal exactly, some major, big changes done to the product. Was it a new game or still the same one? And you can get it further. In all cases we discussed there is one thing in common. Cases I dont have any doubts of calling new products are the ones where the old game is left behind as stand alone fully functional product like D4 and D3. Whereas cases when it is still the same product only with major changes (PoE 2, Hots 2.0) that I have problem with calling fully fledged succesors to the old game, coz there is no old game to begin with. Last edited by Sarn88#3369 on Dec 2, 2019, 7:31:38 AM

" POE 4.0 (which is the proper description) is mainly a story addon with new ascendeny classes, while the base game stays still the same. They choosed to go with the name "POE2" which was a wrong move to be honest. It is still the same game, and showcased that this game could possibly never get a fresh restart with all the bloat/mechanics/(mainly MTX) associoated with it over the years. A real POE2 (without old clutter) would be a such fresh restart but obviously the MTX front would be darely pissed off. Masterpiece of 3.16 lore

" Many ppl say it's cool and all but just look at the confusion it made amongst ppl asking things even on this forum. Personally I have nothing against calling it even Poe Uber Ultimate Definitive Edition 9000. But lets be honest, it is still the same game. I know all player come and say : "ahahah nice, u have try a bot u get ban, sooo nice" but i tell u its just for try, for see and for know. I have use this 10 minutes maximum and i have insta uninstall." - some not-too-bright dude, 2013; Joined 2012, † 2013.

There is literally nothing confusing about it. Its not app. Its a game. Same game has 2 different campaigns. Thats it. Its not rocket science. You pick any campaign you like.
Just wait for at least a year before having questions like that. We dont know much, and we dont need to know! its too early and its okay. I dislike rarity so much im almost quitting poe2. GGG.
