How does Pastebin work

Anyone have any insight to how pastebin works? I am trying to follow along with a guide, but the passive skill tree is a pastebin link that just takes me to a site with a lot of code on it.

I am sure I am missing something. Can anyone share some insight?

Copy paste the link into Path of Building to import the build.

It does have a little thing that can be confusing...

Install Path of Building.

Open it.

Before you do anything else, force it to check for Updates so it is updated to the latest version. You can Then, start the import process described below:

1) Copy the full pastebin link from whatever build page/thread you're looking at. ie:"https://www.pastebin.com/ou812" (Without the quotes.) (Highlight with the cursor, press the "CTRL" and "C" keys at the same time. (Windows Copy Command))

2) Open up Path of Building.

2b) If it shows your last build open, click on the "Back" button. If not, then...

3) Start a new build by clicking on "New." (Assures you don't get the current one junked up if it's loaded.)

4) Click on Import/Export button.

5) In the "Build Sharing" box, click on "Import from Pastebin."

6) A small dialogue box will pop up. In the text-box area provided, paste the pastebin url you copied earlier. (Click on the box so the cursor symbol is active there, then press "CTRL" and "V" at the same time. (Windows Paste Command) You should see the full url you copied as being pasted there.)

7) Now, the tricky part... Click the "Import" button on that dialogue box.

Path of Building will check to see if the url is valid and contains valid Path of Exile build information it can use.

If the url is invalid or there is something wrong with the pastebin data, it will refuse it. If not, you will get a success message.

BUT that isn't the full "Import" process! To truly "Import" that information into PoB you have to then select the "Import"

8)In the "Build Sharing" dialogue, at the lower left of the box, is an "Import" button. This will import the "successfully validated" pastebin build data into Path of Building. Click it... :)

9) And, before you screw anything up, save the build with a unique name that will remind you of what it is. I generally save builds with the creator's name and what they've called it as well as the POE release or League it is compatible with.

It's that latter "8" part that got me when I first used it. You have to click two different buttons and both of them say "Import." The first is importing the data so it can be verified/checked, the second imports it into the active build.
