[3.9] Soulrend Mines - Catageddon Funbuild - Fast Farmer

Hello,

3.9 WE GOT BUFFED! 20% increase of active DOT time.
We might even be able to kill endgame bosses!

PoB: https://pastebin.com/0c7gegeK

The items are all at their midrange values to have a realistic damage output, so there is much more possible. I just want to see at first if it really works.
On PoB I am currently at 400k per mine and as it is a blast chain mine, the damage per mine exploded in a row raises. Also currently at ~3.6k Life.

Current tree: CLICK ME

Items:

Tremor Rod 6L: Awesome extra levels for soulrend
Devouring Diadem 4L: Less mana reserved if no impresence, EB, Mine Throwing speed, Feast of Flesh.
Cherrubims Maleficence 5/1L: Chaos Damage, Life, Armour
Allelopathy 4L: Blight for Blight Spelltotem
Impresence with with Despair: Free curse aura, life, chaos damage and annointed with Constitution for extra life.
Witchfire Brew: More DoT Damage
Rumi's Concoction: Block
Dying Sun: Extra Projectiles

Rest is yellow crap to gain Life, Resists and stuff.

Links:

Weapon: Soulrend - Trap and Mine Damage - Controlled Destruction - Efficacy - Swift Affliction - Void Manipulation

Helmet: Despair - Blasphemy - Malevolence - Enlighten (For Malevolence)

Gloves: Arcane Surge (Level 4) - Multiple Totems - Spell Totem - Increased Area of Effect

Boots: Summon Skitterbots - Cast when Damage Taken (Level 6) - Immortal Call (Level 8) - Steel Skin (13)

Chest 5L: Leap Slam - Faster Attacks Fortify - Summon Stone Golem Culling Strike
Chest: Portal

______________

Okay, I actually started to play this and it is ridiculous funny. It is by far no new speed clear meta or bosskiller, but if you just want to have fun, this build is great for you.

Here is my current gear:
Click me for gear

It kind of perfectly works as I planned. Unless enemies are in range of the mine AoE, the Soulrend flies randomly out of them, but thanks to their mob-search functionality in maps they will still mostly find something to kill. If you throw the maps in front of groups, pop your dying sun and press D (you only need to have the flask active while detonating) everything the next 2 screens is dead.

Singletarget is, at least with my low level gems, not really existent but thanks to the high survivability this really doesn't matter and works like other DOT Skills. Pop and run.

The helmet permanently supports us with full heal every 5 seconds on life and mana, as long as there are corpses. And the blind and nodes from tree and stuff make us extremely hard to hit.

And it is now my favorite Catbuild (Celestial Cat Soulrend is just pure love) ever.

Okay I reworked the tree a bit and the items.
We now have 3.6k Life instead of 2.8k and the gems are complete.
The current setup should play well until tier 15 maps.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi, why are you not going Trickster instead? Trickster's Prolonged Pain is a legendary DoT node. Using your PoB pastebin, Prolonged Pain gives you almost a 100k boost in DoT DPS.

Also, I dont know if you've had experience with Tremor Rod. I find the mine rearm feature to be quite underwhelming and clunky. There is a significant delay between the time you detonate a mine and the time that mine is rearmed for a second detonation (you cannot instantly detonate each mine two times for twice the damage.) Oftentimes, the first wave of detonations is enough to kill most mobs, so by the time you wait for the mines to rearm, they have nothing left to kill. And if you exceed your maximum number of deployed mines (very easy to do with Tremor Rod), your earliest mines simply disappear without detonating, which amounts to a waste of resource.

Lastly, rather than grabbing too many chaos DoT nodes and ending up with just 3.5k health pool, maybe try fitting in Curtain Call? If you can meet the 800 int/dex requirement (which is easy to accomplish from stats on rares, leaving you less reliant on your passive tree), it is an instant near-200% damage boost while leaving you with more passive points to invest in health. This dude for example has a similar idea as you (chaos DoT mines using Toxic Rain), but he has 5k health and is using curtain call with 800 dex and 800 int so he can throw three mines at once for thrice the damage output.

Hi,

thanks for the reply.
I am not taking the Tremor Rod for the re-armed mines but the Skill Levels and 7 Link. The re-arm takes place, when the casted skill ended, so it is not much intersting for this build. We just detonate and move on and throw new traps. If we hit 19 new traps will just replace old ones, so no trouble at all.

the 3.6k Life is normally enough for softcore if you know the game a bit. But a bit more life would be nice. I am on saboteur for the free blind, survivability (we have 62% evade, 40 attack dodge, 30 spell dodge, 24% block, 6% spell block), enhanced aoe for Soulrend (with all those aoe bonus we actually do have aoe, as it is normally too thin to actually hit multiple enemies), lifereg from detonated mines and faster detonating speed. 400k DPS should be enough for all content up to at least tier 15. Also our diadem will heal us constantly (switch portal for desecrate for even more heal when fighting bosses).

I have thought about the Curtain Call too, but I don't want this to be a stat stacking build as they go expensive fast if you need stats on each item, so I will definitely pass on that.

POB says Soulrend cannot be supported by Minefield. It's not limited to a wand or bow so Blastchain doesn't work either. In-game, I tried it to be sure. Soulrend definitely cannot be supported by Minefield, so this won't even work.

Why would it not work, it works perfectly fine. Want me to show you a video?

Updated the first post as I now started this build for real.

It is by far no meta build but it is stupidly fun. Will stream it tomorrow.

Hi, this is a powerful build indeed!

Though I am curious, why do you take the mine critical chance/damage nodes on the mine wheel at the far right of the tree? They don't seem to add much to this build.

Thanks!

And good catch, was a leftover from my pyroclasts. As I never had a chaos-miner this is a reflex lol.

removed them and exchanged them for a bit life, more mana and spell block.
We now have 5% more spellblock! Even more tanky and the extra mana doesn't hurt. And we get 11% extra manareg from the spellblock. Very helpful on bossfights, when we go spam mode.

Hey,

didn't think I keep on doing this build, eventhough it is fun but since we got buffed, I have to continue this. It's too stupidly funny to not to do.

The new buff makes our dots longer, giving us more time to lay new mines. The new PLUS Gems might be something big too, let's see.

Definitely mapping viable!
