Necro ascendency and nomenclature

Greetings everyone,
I have some questions about corpses to which I couldn't find answers here or on the wiki, so here I go:

Spawning corpses

So it's pretty clear from the skillgems descriptions that Unearth and Desecrate spawn corpses, but do we "spawn" corpses when, say, killing an enemy? Does that benefit from the Corpse Pact effects?

Consuming corpses

Same thing here, offerings and devouring totem clearly state that the skill "consumes" corpses, but what about other interactions that make use of corpses such as raising a zombie or spectre from it or making it explode? Does it count as "consuming" those foes' remnants?

Killing monsters doesn't count as spawning corpses, that refers to you directly creating them yourself via skills.

On consuming corpses something like Devouring totem consumes the corpses itself, so does not count for *you* consuming corpses. Detonate dead, volatile dead, raising minions does count as you consuming corpses.

Offerings I am not sure on. Not sure if they are their own entity like totems where *they* consume the corpses, rather than *you* consuming them. It does say the skill consumes corpses, so probably counts as the player consuming them.

Think of consuming corpses as the "casting cost" for the spell. A bit like sacrificing creatures for cards in MTG (I'm assuming they still do that, haven't played since 4th gen).

I wanted to be sure before investing ascendancy points since I don't use corpse-spawning skills (but I do love splodin' em) :)

The offering's literally say "Consume" on the gem description. I would honestly question whether Raise Zombie counts, since it says Raise a zombie from a corpse; not consume a corpse to create a zombie.

More often than not GGG is VERY specific in it's wording.

There's no doubt offerings consume corpses.

The question is, does the offering consume the corpse or does the player?

Totems (or spectres that use corpse skills) as an example of corpses getting consumed that don't count.

Are we certain about that? I vaguely remember reading somewhere that this was true, but the wiki page for "Kill" doesn't list Detonate Dead as consuming a corpse, nor does the page for the skill mention it. Can we get a weigh in from a dev?
