Question; Ancestral Bond, Assassins Mark and Power Charges

Hi all,

I've been looking at the various forums, but can't seem to find any answer. So here goes.

I'm trying out the Divine Ire Totem Hierophant build, by Malification, which is a blast so far. I am trying to fit in Assassins Mark, so that I can get Power Charges on kill. I have linked it with my Stormbrand and a curse on hit.

Here's the thing though; When not taking Ancestral Bond, it works fine. I curse the enemies, they die, I get a shiny little power charge.

When I do take Ancestral Bond for the extra totem, however, I don't see any power charges being generated. At all.

Why is this?

As I read the note, I cannot do damage myself, only my totems. But effects such as curses should still work, yeah? Or do the totems get the power charges instead of me now?

Totems can never gain power charges. Link PCoH to your Storm Brand. Even better, use a more effective skill, Ball Lightning + GMP or Arc maybe.

Kills and therefore charges would get credited to your totems in this case. As totems can't gain power charges no charges can be generated*

*unless you use a stormfire band and the ignite (or any dot) kills the enemies. Dot kills are always credited to the player for some reason.

Yeah, Poison support on the Totems would have the same DoT effect.

I think I'm missing something - How would PCoC (I'm assuming it's Power Charge on Crit) be any different than the Assassin's Mark? Can the Stormbrand still crit, even though it doesn't do any damage?

If that's the case, then it's an easy fix to get the powercharges.

I'm playing Divine Ire Hierophant loosely based on Mathil's template but I decided to take Conviction of Power instead of Arcane Blessing. I'm getting Arcane surge from Flame Dash,which is more powerful than lvl 1 Arcane Surge given by Arcane Blessing.

Conviction of Power is great ascendancy option that solves your Power Charge generation issues, gives you offensive and defensive boost and also allows you to have quite reliably Endurance charges as well.

I also have not yet selected Ancestral bond at lvl79. I prefer to still use Storm Brand for clearing small packs of enemies. It definitely was much faster than using 2 or 3 totems. I now have a 6-link that allows me to use Multiple totem support,which means I have 4 totems with Ancestral Bond. AB giving me one extra totem, total of 5, does not make a huge difference especially since I now summon totems in two so having 4 total works better for me.
