Massive FPS drop (Fixed)

Path of Exile always ran fine for me on this computer, but promptly after the Blight update launched, the game experiences horrible latency on the title and menu screens, and is unable to get above 6 fps in the game, rendering it next to unplayable. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling POE onto the SSD, as well as adjusting various game properties including resolution and other rendering, and none of these have solved anything.

My laptop is an MSI GS73 with an intel i7 and a GTX 1070. The machine is only nine months old and ran synthesis and legion leagues perfectly fine.

If anyone has any clue what the issue might be, help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Found a fix on another thread for people with similar issues. Posting the fix below for your convenience:

1. Open your NVidia Control panel and go to "Manage 3D Settings"
2. Go to "Program Settings"
3. Select from "1. Select a program to customize:" sub-menu the "Path of Exile" game, and make sure you select "High-performance NVIDIA processor" from the "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program". This forces the x32 version of the game to run on your dedicated video card, but does not fully fix the program, because we have to force the x64 version as well.
4. Click on the "Add" button and search for the x64 executable of the game(easiest way is to just run the x64 executable once, and it will appear on top of the list, if not use the "Browse" button), select it and click "Add Selected Program".
5. Do the same thing as stated at number 3. for this executable, and click "Apply". Now you should be able to run the game from Steam and you should have your performances back.

Thank you to Shadowphyre98 for the fix.

I attempted to fix the issue by changing my global settings to use the high performance gpu. It helped a bunch, but I was still experiencing performance issues here and there.

After reverting and following these instructions, the performance issues disappeared.

Thanks!
thumbs up. My Asus ROG Scar II with RTX 2070 can now run PoE with no fps issues
