How to scale Plague Bearer?
"Added a new Dexterity Skill Gem - Plague Bearer: Gain a buff that stores the damage of Poisons you apply. Using the skill again unleashes the stored damage, dealing chaos damage over time in an area around you. Your damage modifiers don't apply to this chaos damage over time."
So I'm assuming that the skill stores some % of your poison damage instead of fixed amount? Meaning that you actually can scale the damage instead of it being static amount, right? because it would suck horribly to not being able to scale it. The way I read it as mainly gem lvls. It's damage you've already delt so can't scale it twice. Need to see gem to see if it holds flat amount or duration based ext. With that in mind thinking it's duration based like absorb damage for x time to charge. But itherway think it's a 1-2 link wonder

You buff the damage caused by your poison skill. This will buff your damage from Plague Bearer naturally. You just don't get buffs applied twice. You can increase it's area of effect, but that's about it.

" This. The best way to scale Plague Bearer will be ensuring your poisons are dangerous to begin with. I assume you mean "what support gems do I use?" though. Empower, Enhance, Increased Area of Effect. In an item that gives increased level to socketed gems. The higher Plague Bearer's level, the more poison damage can be stored. Thus the more damage it can deal over its duration. Bring back race seasons.

" But it has cap that cannot be scaled? That will suck unless the cap is ridiculously high but since the game currently scales as far as you want I cannot see this as a good mechanic. |

So the gem info shows stored max damage one million. That means there is 120k damage cap in second. That seems bit underwhelming.

I'm probably just being optimistic but wouldn't "your damage modifiers" only refer to gear and passive tree meaning gems should scale it just fine? I mostly came to that assumption because of the rant support gems have about not being buffs to your character but just linked gems. other wise i suppose this is only intended to skew when you deal damage rather then how much you deal

Enhance. Empower. Inc Aoe. This is all you can use effectively. I say "effectively" because you COULD use conc effect if you really wanted to. Don't recommend.
Tbh, this 3-4 link wonder is all you need. It's not a main skill, you pop it when it you want more dps at a boss fight or a blight choke point. I think it's fantastic. Running cobra lash as my main skill, then when I hit rare packs/bosses/essences I pop plague bearer and everything around me simply melts away. Would not run a poison build without it. 1 million extra damage that's essentially passive/lazy damage is excellent. |
