Blight league will be more hated than Synthesis
Here is what we know about Blight league:
Adding other genres of games to PoE is polarizing (see Bestiary : Pokemon /// Labyrinth : Puzzler). We're tower defense now boys. Early reaction here and on reddit has been...polarized. It will be slower than Legion. They will have similar prep times (break monsters and chests : prep towers) but once you decide to clear a Blight, you are at the mercy of however long it takes shit to both spawn, and be done spawning. In Legion you just kill the shit. Players don't seem to like slow, although there are some hold outs here on the forums that are old school. It will be less rewarding than Legion. One of the devs on Baeclast pod mentioned how it was silly to get legion rewards that were better than past league rewards. The example he mentioned was getting a whole breachstone in a legion encounter when doing a breach might only net you 3/100 of a breachstone. It's not set in stone, but I'm thinking they keep the 'all past league loot' system, but scale it back by 33% or more. Everything will be buyable through the trade site. These 4 things combined will mean a lot of people hating on this league and calling it filler while not really giving it a chance. The difference between this and synthesis is the lack of complexity. This is why I say it will be MORE hated than Synthesis. In Synth, the full time players had chase items to craft via the synthesizer and uber boss. In Blight, I expect they'll find that speed running the game while skipping Blight stuff will net them more money, and they can buy the enchants and blighted maps they want. Not to mention the league rewards are beyond hideous, freakin spermcell helmet and the wings should be 6 challenges tops. Probably wont put too much time if any into this league

I don't think it will be hated that much. Fair enough the tower defense is a bit uninspired and the slowdown is indeed a poor choice of pacing (my favorite so far has been harbinger) but here's the thing.
The oil additions are great. It will be less rewarding because it's not meant to be tier 2 1 minute done abused but it will at least play properly. If you actually paid any attention then you'd notice they said that it was ridiculous that a league that has nothing to do with breach awards far more breachstones than breach content. Not that the value of the rewards are too high. Everything has always been able to be bought through trade. Your points are mostly moot except for the fact that it will be slower and yeah, people will dislike that but it's probably still gonna be better than synthesis. "The heavens burned

Every league since 2013 has had people who hated it, and people who liked it. That's not going to change. You can come back in a couple weeks and say "I told you so." no matter what, because there will always be people complaining.
If you're dead set on being on the side of the complaints, why not just find something you enjoy more than this and do it? I disagree that the oils addition is great. It's an enchant on an amulet. It's not groundbreaking. The enchants on the rings only affect this mechanic. That's not even on my radar. I'm not sure how we get the blighted maps, but they sound like they're rare enough not to be a factor in regular play. Last edited by Shagsbeard#3964 on Sep 2, 2019, 7:01:02 PM

Synthesis was too complicated, I blacked out and said NOPE. Hell even betrayal is too complicated, I have no idea what I'm doing when I execute/bargain/interrogate.
Blight seems to hit a sweeter spot for me. Also the slow pace = trying builds that don't work in super saiyan one shot teleport speed clear leagues. Looking forward to trying new things with defensive builds I haven't done before. Also, I don't understand people who like to do the exact same thing every league. That's very diablo 3. *judging* Last edited by hekate1#1010 on Sep 2, 2019, 7:06:41 PM

I liked synthesis, granted the fact I skipped them from lvls 30-70 or so since they slowed down leveling too much.
It just kinda sucked when they reworked it mid league, and I lost my juicy 13+ mod zones. " You don't know that yet. Also, legion had huge rewards if you had good clearspeed. It's likely that many leagues will pale compared to legions loot-heavy rewards. Last edited by dizz#2756 on Sep 2, 2019, 7:29:05 PM

Not sure why you think it’s too slow. Encounters are supposed to last about 1 minute, but that is depending on how quickly you kill the packs.
- It starts when you finish spending the initial resource - Next pack starts as soon as the previous one dies - You can pew pew the packs without regard to them pew pewing you The encounters will be very quick and trivialized come mid-late league as players will be more effective than towers. |

It's hard to say without playing it. GGG can only do so many breach/abyss/legion league before people starting hating those as well.

" I assume you mean the longer term stuff they're working on. And I think people do recognize that, and it's exactly why the community as a whole will default to the lazy criticism of 'this is a filler league while they work on 4.0' instead of recognizing why it's actually (probably) going to feel less fun than legion. Waiting for monsters to attack the pump < proactively slaughtering legions Less loot < more loot Slow < fast Non hack n slash gameplay =/= what I come to PoE for etc, etc Real reasons will get lost behind 'filler league' and 'TencentGGG lol' |

I heard we can skip the tower defense stuff. So a league with no new mechanic...why is that so bad and make it the worst league ever?
