Negative chaos resistance without any weaknesses - why?

By standing in Oriath and checking my defence I realize that my resistance to chaos damage is -40%. However there is no any curse one me and I had no any item that could remove any chaos resistance points from my stats.

Killing Kitava Act 5 gives -30% all res

By taking on account that res cap is setet on 75% - how to get even those 125% to have proper res? Even if... by adding every chaos resistance from my equipement - I should have about +55% to my (-5% in general) chaos res. |

" Sadly again you have misunderstood PoE game mechanics and GGG's plan with PoE game content. What they want is the game to become harder the futher you go. 1 way the do this is with the resistence penalties (you can read more here https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Resistance#Resistance_penalties). Regarding the resistence cap, then this is 75% by default but can be raise up using speciel gear and so on. If you want to be res capped, the number you need is 75% (111% - ele weakness map mod capped). |

" No, chaos resistance is separate from elemental resistances. All elemental resistance mod applies to cold, fire and lightning resistance only. Elemental resistances are mandatory to be at 75% as this type of damage is very common. Chaos resistance on the other hand is often targeted to be 0% as chaos is much rare damage type. Having 0% resistance means you are getting not getting any extra damage from the source, which is often enough to manage chaos damage. There are few specific encounters where high chaos resistance is preferred but other forms of survival might compensate for it. |

No, elemental resistance and chaos resistance are 2 different things. You should always make sure you have your elemental resistance capped, means 75 resistance assuming no max resistance. Your Chaos resis doesn't have to be maxed. If you get it around 0 it's perfectly fine and that can be done rather easily. You can even play with -60 chaos and do all content this way but you will have to watch out for chaos cround effects later on (high red tier maps), they will drain your life rather quickly.

You will start losing xp when you die aswell. At act 6 you lose 5 % and 10% at end game. Comes with the -30 to all res. Great pair of gifts i personally love.
