New shield charge damage calculation

"
Shield Charge:
Now deals damage based on your equipped shield, not your weapon. Here's how it does it:
Base off hand critical strike chance is 5%.
Adds 0.1% to critical strike chance per 10 maximum energy shield on shield.
Deals 11 to 17 base off hand physical damage at gem level 1, up to 132 to 198 at gem level 20.
Adds 2 to 3 physical damage per 15 armour or evasion rating on shield.
Base off hand attack time is 0.53 seconds at gem level 1, down to 0.48 seconds at gem level 20.

Do the increased shield defense nodes boost the damage of the new shield charge?

If not, shouldn't they? +1 for support :)

They don’t for Spectral Shield Throw which works the same way, so this will most likely be the same.

And that’s how it should be - those nodes aren’t balanced around being used in this way. They’d be far too strong as damage nodes, and toning down the values to fix that would make them close to worthless for their original purpose.

Do you know if it's the total armor of the shield what counts or just the base (without adding %armor and +# armor affixes of the shield).

Local mods on the shield itself work (+% armour, quality etc). So yeah, the total number that's displayed on the shield itself is what the skill is using, as far as I know.
