Aul, the Crystal King

I got an Aul's Uprising to drop.

So I searched my mine map and found another Primeval ruins. I found one but no Aul boss. :-( This was at about depth level 275.

My question is if anyone has an opinion on how often Aul boss is found in Primeval ruins and whether or not the depth level of the Primeval ruins plays into that likelihood?

Thank you!

Most guides suggest PR can be found starting below 250, with some giving a range of first Aul between 270-340.

I've been at 270-275 going laterally for several days now, spent about 100k sulphite and found no trace of PR or Aul.

My guess is, PR and/or Aul chance is higher, the further down you go, but they are rarer than either Vaal or Abyssal cities.

Perhaps the reason why many ppl say they haven't beat him or found him yet, is because delve at 275 approaches the difficulty of t15-16 maps and most builds struggle to not die at this level. PR may simply be coded to appear almost exclusively out of the reach of the players who can't handle deeper than 275.

LL/ES builds and flaskregen builds should have little problem getting past this.

I'm at depth 260ish now and I haven't found any boss or any primeval ruins so far. Just Vaal and Abyss cities with loot...

I believe it has two layers of rng when your trying to find a boss, the first is does your new area have a city? the next is does that city have a boss?

As soon as Primeval ruins start turning up any primeval ruin you find can contain a boss, I believe its about 1/5 but I could be pulling that number out of nowhere as I'm trying to remember from back in Delve league.

Thank you everyone for the responses, much appreciated.

My current build isn't LL/ES or flask regen but it is pretty comfortable in the 300 and less range. It's a maximum block with high gain life on hits and blocks. I'm not sure what level I was when I found Aul. At the time I didn't realize what had happened. Only much later when I identified the amulet did I realize. Maybe I should go through the pain of doing mouse looks over all the completed nodes in my delve map to see what level it was?

I'll go lateral at 270 range like you until I go up another level and then try deeper.

edit: It looks like Aul, the Crystal King was either at depth 291 or 292. Probably 292 because that node is titled "The Crystal King's Throne" the other two Primeval ruins on my chart I found are titled "Primeval chamber".

everything has a much much much higher spawn rate at much much much deeper depths.

basically the best thing to do is play at whatever depth your character is able to play. if you can keep going down to 800 or 1000 then play at that. at whatever depth is your characters comfortable limit, go horizontal there.

this is of course assuming you play enough and get enough sulphite to feed the requirement to dive down so deep
You were incredibly lucky finding him that depth. He can appear there but the chances are so low you literally won the lotto.

I have seen him ONCE (in Delve) and that was at 2x deeper.
