Melee and Stand Still (L2)

Hey!

I've read about some issues with melee attack reach and I've found out next thing that put me to think about it:

Every melee attack skill have a Stand Still function (always on), even there are no enemies in that skill range. This is probably the biggest reason why some players are confused or feel that their skills are ineffective.


Next thing come to mind when you realize this, is whats the point of L2 Stand Still -function? yes, some skills have an alternative targeting option behind L2 (Totems, Flame Dash, Leap, etc.) and it does remove the environmental interaction from [X] button, but still?

If we already have this function build behind L2 shouldn't you update other (melee) skills to be target-based by default? like if I press [Square] to hit my Reave, it would make my character to move to the required hit range/distance of the target (if there is one) before executing the ability. (the move closer could still be interruptible by moving with LS etc.)

And if I just want to stand still and deliver my blows around I would just hold the L2.


Any thoughts about this?
