3.6 Herald of Agony/Blade Vortex Occultist Question

I have just started playing and I love the learning curve this game is providing. I miss the days of making a quirky character in D2 and with certain runewords and enough plus to skills sometimes you could make anything work, for PvE at least. I am trying to find an occultist build and I have looked but haven't really found what I am looking for. I see many builds with HoA or BV but it seems for this patch I don't see a combination of HoA/BV, I want to do my version of a "melee" witch. Granted she isn't swinging a heavy two hander to do the blunt of her damage but I want to know if this is viable. I still want to be able to do endgame I know that certain builds are much better and more reliable but I want to try and make this work. I saw the triple herald elementalist but I want something with curses so the occultist stood out to me. Can some people give me a direction to run with that will be viable, not looking for OP just looking for something enjoyable and unique.
