Animal Combat Pets for Ranger?

Ya, I know there's golem pets out there (Ice golem for dexterity), but..golems are more mage pets than ranger pets.. I was thinking like a bear to tank with or a wolf for dps. Any way this can be implemented? Using a Golem with my ranger doesn't feel right at all for some reason.

The animal minions available are through items. And Herald of Agony kinda counts since it's a mutated scorpion.

Having a white wolf os something as such for ranger would be cool, but there is already quie a bit tied to items already ... SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.

Items are fine and all but I was hoping more along the lines of actual GEMS like we got for 'summoning golems', that we can level up which may or may not be class exclusive (maybe create like a beast master ascendancy tree?). Also, the animals would probably need more health than golems, at least the tanky pet anyway.. golems seem a little too squishy to me.
